Of course I know power draw is exceeded, but these chips Intel binned for 26X & 95 watts (not 130 watt). These are the ones that I believe CAN run 5ghz on air..

I want one of these so bad.. Yes it's a steal @ $135.. I just have too much going on right now. Hopefully there'll be 1 left when I'm ready..

You have 3 left now, I grab one. Now it is the big waiting time for deliver.

From a quick Google search last night I only found one Westmere on air @5GHz. Strangely enough he never posted any benchmarks, only cpuid screens, I'm betting because it crashed under any stress.

Now I'm not saying it's impossible to get a lucky chip that will do what you're wanting it to do. However, considering your current chip is benchable at over 4.8 and you say it will go higher but throttles, I'm willing to bet your current chip would end up being faster under aio water than any 5675 you're likely to get on air, and cheaper too.

Not with a 22 multiplier.. My board hits a wall at 214 BCLK, whether it's memory or whatever, that's the max it will do.
I bet the Westmere @5ghz on air wasn't an X5675..

Nice! What are you using to achieve 243 BCLK? 1.73 Volts? What type cooling? Temps? Stability?
That's CRAZY!

QPI LINK SLOW MODE and 110 PCI-E FREQUENCY to achieve 243 BCLK, air cooling,THERMALRIGHT U120E,only can boot.I run 210*22@1.424v for 7*24

Thanks.. I'm posting from it right now @ 5Ghz, but haven't been able to finish Cinebench or Chess Benchmark..

Edit: Finally got Chess benchmark to run @ +.75 volts, but was slower than my previous score due to throttling..

Let me go ahead and quote myself there. You'd be better off getting your likely better (later) B1 stepping cooled down than taking your chances on some dicey A0 stepping ES chip on air. BTW....Wow! Are you guys playing with fire at those voltages on air. What did your actual reading say at +75v Burpo?

Wow 1.5v you got big balls burpo.

lol that is even over the voltage cut off for Nelahem which is 1.45v on 45nm.

i'm going to assume these are 2 min benchmark runs.

No Makaveli, AFAIK 1.5 was from that screenshot..... It sounds like after that he ramped it up to +.75v which I imagine is much higher than 1.5v, 1.6v is +330mV on my board if I recall correctly.

If he doesn't respond fairly soon should we just go ahead and assume what happened? lol

First I tried +.55 volts and during testing, I experienced my first BSOD (been a long time since I saw that). I wasn't sure how much juice to add, so I went to manual voltage & set 1.6 volts, then reverted to "offset" and it showed +.73850.. so I guess. +.75 is close enough. Running QPI on slow is cheating tho..not practical, not true speed.

Frequencies were all over the place running Chess benchmark. Temps per core were flashing 96C. THROTTLING but no BSOD. These chips are pretty indestructible.. And YES, still wanting that ES.. I'd buy some cooling

Funny how different boards are, +.75 on mine would be like 2v or something. Thought you might have already killed it. Haha

Sabre Tooth power section is pretty good. This board & 26X chip should do it easy. I just have to cool it

It was probably posted before but too lazy to go look.

What are you on again AIO or highend Air for cooling?

In general, run QPI LINK SLOW MODE when the BCLK more than 222

You do realize that at the speeds/volts we are running these things at they are not even close to 95w TDP processors anymore right? As for the binning, chances are all 5670's, and many/most 5660 and 5650's could have passed the binning process as 5675's. They need inventory to sell in the lower slots, so even the best silicon could find it's way into the lowest product slot. I have no doubt they can run at 200+BCLK (the trick will be 200bclk and 25 or 26X multiplier at the same time though), I just doubt many can run 5+GHz without sub ambient cooling. You may get lucky though.

Ya gotta love it.

Hi guys! I just bought an x5650, it goes 1.234V on 4.0GHZ 22x183. I really love it. Now it runs 4ghz on idle and load as well. Is it possible to optimize the power useage and the frequency of the CPU determined by the usage? I dont save any power saving fuctions working right now. I have GA X58 Extreme MB.

Does your bios look like this? If so you're good to go with these settings.
