I wouldn't think that is at all out of the range of variability. The run I posted the other day was 11.59@4.69. What by chance is your ram running at at 201 bclk? I'm wanting to say mine runs at slightly under 1500mhz at my 24x195 setting. So if you're running well above that it may account for some of it, though I don't know how much Cinebench is influenced by memory bandwidth.

I recently figured out how to lower my memory ratio without my bios crashing. It's been at 2:8 (1066MHz) for the longest until I tested a setting I tried before called MCH Strap and set it to 2:6 (800MHz) This also had to be set to 2:6 under another setting somewhere else in the bios called 'Memory Features' Anyways I've been using 2:6 since this afternoon = 201 BLCK with 2:6, and a 23x multi brought the RAM speed to 1200MHz.

Does HWiNFO64 show the correct VTT?

BIOS is showing 1.39v while HWiNFO64 is showing 1.44v. I need the high vtt to run the ram at 2200mhz, otherwise it drops a channel of memory.

L5639 @ 220blk 1.36v
3x4gb ballistix @ 2200mhz 9-9-9-27-1t 1.72v

Been running this for quite a while mining 24/7 with 90% plus load however keeping tcase temp under 82c and core temps under 75c. If it dies from the high vtt its just an excuse to get an x5650 or better.

You can never count on either the bios or in-OS software to give you accurate volt readings. The best way is from terminals on the motherboard. Get a multi-meter and connect the negative/black/ground wire to a bolt that holds down the motherboard to ground the reading, and then use the red terminal to connect to the motherboard terminals. And yes, usually VTT over 1.35v kills these chips AFAIK.

Anyone know where a moderate priced overclocking board is? Got laid off work but I have a Zeon I'd like to tinker with.............PS bent pins are fine as long as its not the whole socket.

The known great over-clocking boards are overpriced. 249$ for a Sabertooth. 400$ for an Asus Rampage. And pre-used. No matter what is described on the listing you gotta be ready or be cautious about a 4-5yr old motherboard that's been used.

There are Intel boards for 100$ US dollar, on ebay.. never heard of them as being great overclockers

Well, eBay granted my second refund (R3G @ $225) so I'm hoping third time's the charm. Found an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 in "excellent condition" guaranteed non-DOA, already flashed to latest BIOS version for $200 shipped. Should arrive by Thursday. Fingers crossed.

Good luck man.. That's still less than it cost new.
I was lucky enough to find a new SaberTooth a year ago for $150, but these boards are crazy expensive now.

Someone in the for sale section has their X58 bits up for sale. MSI mobo and a couple of 5650s IIRC. Just FYI

Just picked up a X5680 for $150, couldn't help myself.

Hope it's a good one.

Can stick the X5650 in the P6T Deluxe V2 then, still had never put the L5639 in it, have to sell that on the side maybe if this works out

Hope it works out, they are pretty nice for these chips.

I scored one for about $140 I think it was that was in excellent shape months back, you really have to hunt for those old guys these days I guess.

What I'm going to stick the current X5650 in if the X5680 is good that is en route.

Hope this is what it is supposed to be, bought it off a *New* posting and no reviews yet.

An X5680 for $150 bucks I'll give it a shot see what happens.

Wow, the X5680 got here fast, have to do some surgery this weekend.

Maybe tonight if I get motivated, but probably not.

Congrats Mongrel! I'm still holding out for X5675, but I am interested to see how that 130watt Xeon overclocks

It's the weekend. No pressure. But you have 25x the responsibility to report your surgical results ASAP. Don't make me nag you 23x times. ;-)

Welp, plopped the X5680 in, have it operating at 4.6 and have booted at 5.06.

Were having a few discussions at the moment, trying to tame this thing

Currently idling at 4.86 with a 27X multiplier, but when I Prime it it goes to 4.6 X26.

What CPU-Z reporting anyways, have it set to 26.

Back to the madness

Bwa hahahah

Well stable at 4.4 X 26, I had way too much vcore at first at least its priming now.

I'm wondering if the X27 is some GPUZ bug, I do not believe this one would go that high.

Temps still dropping too, the cooler still seating, at least can heat it up and seat it a bit.

Can go from here.

This one is becoming a hard one to train, thought I had it stable at 4.65 and we got in an argument.

I'm leaving it for now, not bad for only tweaking it a few hours and pretty stable.

The chip and I will be having more encounters
