27X is max turbo (1 core). 26X should work (all cores). You can't get above 170BCLK stable? Is heat the issue? I want to start with a 95 watt part and see what kind of volts/heat issue there is @ 200BCLK. So far the ones I tested will all do 200.
Thanks MonGrel.. Keep us posted.. Interested to see CB scores

200 x 25 = 5Ghz using my old skool math. x26, burning ring of 5.2 fire...

No matter if it's a 95watt part, at 5ghz that's a whole lotta heatin' going on.

Still...would be worth it if 4.7-4.8 could be heat-managed 24/7. And then there's the safe everyday voltage thing, Burpo, not that you care about safety. ;-)

Got stuff put together last week, open desk build. x5650 on the P6T Deluxe V2 fired right up, no issues with recognition. Was too busy this weekend to do anything with it, will try to find some time this week after work to play around with overclocking.

Not open case. Bare-assed motherboard sitting on desk next to PSU. LOL

And, yeah, I will post back with results once I see what it will do. And probably with questions for optimizing performance.

Yeah this thing is relatively toasty for just air.

Haven't messed around a lot more with it yet, but just for a few hours tweaking CB looks about like this atm.

is that stable tho?

Can you run OCCT and prime 95 for 12 or even 24 hours at that vcore without worrying about coming home to a burnt up cpu.

It's pretty stable at the moment on Prime but I doubt it would go 24 hours.

Haven't been tweaking it very long yet, just a few hours yesterday.

Been running similar VCore on others chips I guess for many years, the P6T7 pretty rugged, have a NH-D14 on it and a good case, it doesn't get crazy hot, the throttling the main prob here when pushing it.

This old rig has heat pipes and sinks all over the place, in between the CPU cooler, the MOBO, and the GPU.

I'm steam punk

Bought this thing open box off the Egg many years ago for $200, one of the best things I ever picked up there.

Cool.. I wouldn't worry with Prime. IBT told me what I need to know much quicker.. Renders @ 4400 for me everyday.. Guess if it goes poof.. I'll have to get another 1.. Long as temps are good, let it rip.. That's my motto..

Nice board Mongrel

Don't care if cpu goes poof. Bt if the mb goes then it's hard to find a good replacement.

You've been working yours for months at 1.488V, using offset right?

What sort of volts do you need for 4200? My 5660 will hit 4250 with 1.32V stable. Is the extra 200mhz worth the heat and voltage cost?

My offset is .26850 and yes, a year so far with no problems. I'm not worried about anything on my rig.. I keep it under 1.5 volts & it works everyday without issue. Prolly not worth it to some, but I want to see how long it lasts. Use good parts & control temps. Should last for yrs..

Considered looking around for one of these to try out as I could even use it on a build down the road maybe, but not sure it's worth messing with.

It's a bit different than a AiO it looks and expandable with some good parts with it to begin with.

Never tried liquid, might give it a shot in the future, might tame the X5680 a bit and usable down the road.

I would personally say, absolutely not, because yes, that's absolutely going to cost more

hi all,
found this thread and thought I'd give it a try. using an x5650 and asus sabertooth x58. unfortunately, cannot change anything worthwile in AI tweaker in the bios. It is on the most recent bios v 1402. the cpu level up is greyed out. even setting to manual does not allow changing bclk, etc. any ideas?
thanks!

nm figured it out. was simpler than I thought. just type numbers instead of pressing enter to edit.

Here are some old screenshots (SaberTooth X58 & X5650). I dropped cpu voltage offset from .30 to .22..

Also bumped PLL to 1.92 & QPI/DRAM Core Voltage is now 1.32500

hmm, playing with a few things here......

*edit* 4.75, 4.9 some, but it's pretty froggy atm, but I turned a few things down.

Work in progress still I guess.

Hm I cannot get it to be stable when I enable Speedstep and C states. If I leave those off, then I can get stable 182x22 at +0.15V vcore offset with LLC enabled. 4004 MHz

I have CPU PLL, QPI, IOH, IPH PCIE, and ICH set to just when the numbers first turn yellow. ICH PCIE is set at 1.6 and DRAM voltage is set at 1.65.

I also had to lock in my DRAM timings because the auto/xmp just wouldn't stay stable. I'm using 9-9-9-24 at 2N at 1.65V and it's probably around DDR3-1456 MHz (based on 182*2*2*2), though my g.skill ram is supposedly able to do those timings at 1.5V says the XMP.
