I have a Foxconn Flamingbird, the BIOSes are maybe similar. Sometimes, if my memory clocks are too high, it also just recognizes one memory channel. Thus try with a lower RAM multiplier.
I hope you didnt forget that you overclock your RAM automatically when you are doing QPI-OC. Try the lowest, (DDR3-800) for a start.

Thanks for the tip, I do have two channels working, not just one. I relaxed the timings and downclocked the frequencies in my original 3x2 GB triple channel RAM. So much that it was slower than the 2x4 GB I replaced it with. At that point I just wanted to get the original RAM out of there because there was little reason to keep it (the benefit of an extra channel in that circumstance not being significant).

I also performed all the other typical trouble-shooting steps, like increasing Vtt.

I also moved parts around as well - and with a good i7-920, good sticks of 3x2gb and 2x4gb, and two LS 5639(s) - there's a lot of those tests you can make.

I think my chip's a bit of a dud, as in order to run 200x18 stable with HyperThreading on I need CPU voltage set to 1.35 in the BIOS.

If I disable HyperThreading , I can boot and run some benchmarks with 1.25, and I noticed that the full load from Cinebench only throttles to 200x17 (3.4Ghz) rather than 200x16 (3.2Ghz) that it does at 1.35 with HT on. Of course the score is less, because of the lack of HT.

So if I had a little better luck in the CPU lottery I may have been able to avoid the TDP Throttling on this ASUS P6T, just by running at a lower cpu voltage. But ALAS, I'm back to 1.35 with HT on, as this gives me the best overall performance.

I think the P6T isn't a good pair with this chip, I haven't seen one good result yet.

What idle voltages are people seeing with speed step enabled? The low I'm seeing is 0.992 V. Yes, it is at a 12x multiplier, but still...0.992 V? One of the reasons I retired my x58 board (before this upgrade) was it had no under-volting capability, so I appreciate this idle voltage especially with two extra cores.

Lol the msi board is gone.

I kinda predicted this.
As i have said that board is a steal.

could the op make a list of motherboard overclocking results? i'll be testing the x58 sabertooth mid next week (when i get my gpu).

X58 Sabertooth I am prime stable at ~ 3816 on 6 cores. ( 212 x 18) Speedstep, Turbo, off @ 1.30 vcore x 1.30 vtt

Can any other sabertooth users confirm the presence of the TDP Limit Override setting (under Intel PPM Menu) ?

My settings look like this:

while the manual shows this option:

I have tried toggling off/ on settings, moving the OC jumpers to enable "advanced mode" (although this seems to just allow ridiculously high voltages), and reviewing BIOS change logs to see if it has perhaps been removed.

My only guess at this point is where they say turbo mode is processor specific, they don't just mean TURBO mode, they mean all of the associated settings ( my interpretation is Turbo mode option yes or no based on the processor.. If yes, which both the 950 and Xeon are then I should have all the sub-options as well.

So I have the specs in my sig and thinking about switching out my case to a 650D with a H100i cooler.

What memory would you guys suggest going to that is available on Amazon? I don't want to go balls out OC'ing as I've never really messed around with OCing as my MoBo is out of warranty now and I know MoBos are hard to come by now.

I am currently haggling with a seller for one of these CPUs. *EDIT* Purchased for $90 + Free Shipping from eBay seller esisoinc who has more than 10 available.

Wow nice results! I'll be testing my board later today

But you hate MSI

I had great luck with my P6T and overclocking, maybe it was just the older bios versions?

shhhhhhhh... i know i hate MSI... however the military edition aint so bad...

And my bad experience with MSI can be summarized with 2 words..
MSI eclipse

it was ABSOLUTELY #$@#$@#%$$#% <--- in a negative tone...

^ u remember how long i held onto that?
You also remember how much you laughed at me cuz i bought it just for the DLED.

Oh wait so this overclock everyone is talking about is just a straight CPU overclock?

everyone is using dividers on the memory so they dont need to get over9000mhz ram..
If you recall using mem dividers was something we had to do b4 intel started locking bclk.

I've always had good results with MSI so I can't say anything.

you somehow always had good luck with cheap brands...
whenever u stepped up to a premium tier.. all hell broke lose..

oh wait.. all hell broke lose cuz u got the premium brand from me huh?

Pretty much

I guess i'm a cheapass kinda guy.

I've always had the knack of making cheap stuff work well so when you give me something good, a black hole opens and all hell breaks loose.

I tried these settings and got the same results and no core is reaching 50C with my thermaltake 2.0 pro, I might try pushing it further later.

I just want to say I hate you guys lol.

This one small thing made me go ahead and do the rebuild I've been wanting to do.

HX850 (Re-Used)
EVGA x58 FTW3 (Re-Used)
Intel 520 240 GB SSD (Re-Used)
Samsung Blu-Ray Drive (Re-Used)
Corsair 650D
Corsair H100i
12 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 (6 x 2 GB)
EVGA GTX 770 FTW 4 GB 04G-P4-3776-KR
2 x 2TB WD RED HDDs

This is gonna be a fun weekend lol.

As a side note, I am gonna have a Corsair 800D with SATA 6 Backplane and USB 3.0 Upgrades done if any one is interested lol.

it appears I can't stream to my nvidia shield because of this cpu. any thoughts?

i have no idea.. something OS side is saying no...

the CPU shouldnt "block" communication to anything.
The board might with a TPM module... however i dont know how TPM's really work so i couldnt help you with that...
and i really doubt nvidia would put a TPM inside your shield.

what is tpm? I'm live chatting with nvidia now and this lady can't figure out what the limitation would be either

edit: the lady just figured out that there are no xeons compatible, but I should leave feedback to nvidia so they can further test it (like that'll work)

I can't imagine the CPU would have anything to do with it. People hear "Xeon" and automatically assume that is the problem. Are you attempting to stream with wifi? Did this build involve a fresh OS install?
