Mine is at high 60s/low 70s at full 100% load on all 6 cores at 3.2GHz @1.35V. Using a Scythe Ninja 2.

What coolers are you guys running with this chip? I have a pair of them and an SR2 and wanted to get a 212+, but I figured I would ask the people who already own them what their temps are like OC'd.

Doubtful you could use 2 of these Coollink Corator as they're pretty large, but do an excellent job. Mine runs @ 50's fully loaded at 3.2Ghz & 60's at 3.66Ghz up to 1.40 volts.

I was like you a couple of weeks ago and didn't know what to do for a good stable overclock (same chip, dif board). Since then I have successfully improved the overclock until my 2.13 Xeon clocked 4.215 yesterday. I'll tell you the same as was told me, you don't need any more volts to the chip, but more volts for QPI & PLL worked for me. I have run bclk as high as 212, but currently run 207 stable.

I'm not familiar with your bios setup, but will try & assist you getting similar results. If there's an option for manual or volt offset on cpu core, I'd use offset instead of manual and start with +.25 volt offset. For QPI, I'd set that at 1.35 volts & PLL at 2.0 volts. If there's a C states option I'd make sure it's enabled or set to automatic. Then look for & disable spread spectrum. It's going to be trial & error for awhile but you should see improvements as you start to understand your chip & board together.. What RAM are you using & are you using XMP memory profile?

Thanks a lot man.....I have booted at 200blck with your advice. I ran 10 passes of intelburn without crashing. My memory are Dominator Gt 2000Mhz and I'm not running XMP yet.
I will try higher blck and see what happens.
By the way I'm using +.25 offset volt as you recommend. Is this Ok for 24/7?

That depends on your temps.. Stay in the 50's or 60's under load & it's good to go You may want to try lowering it as you figure out other settings

Hi, be careful with only 10 passes...I now re-ocing the computer and testing again my system go down, not each time, but at 15/16 passes a lot of times can apper at 124 BSOD or hang.

I come back to readjust overclock...I don't probe now to use turbo option -too high voltage, and not have offset option, only testing too modes 210x18 for winter and 200x18 for hot summer days-.

This pass week had reboot issues when playing ASC3...and the begining seems uping the vcore the issues disapper, but not really. Maybe a game errors, but this made me new askings and search a little in the web.

I discover the "Kernel WHEA ID 20" -Wheaville! : )- error and GFLOP fluctuation -recommendable 1.5% between 1% or 3%- and try to make the OC more adjusted. Seems with before settings make linx test passes with OK, but WHEA errors appers...I don't know it about that.

I don' t understand still why but undervolting my ram voltage from 1.64 to 1.60, and finally, to 1.56 it make better stability, ¿better GFLOPS? -yes-, and no errors in linx. Hangs of linx soft while test the ocing dissaper ¿Why?...-at 1,52 reboot at firsts passes and no BSOD-

1.64 was the voltage recommended for my memories with the spects CAS latency...but, last memtest revision go fine 3 passes...-I don't probe HCI, some people said is better for that...-.Don't know why -maybe less heat right..-, only seems my motherboard or that CPU like lowest voltages. ¿?

The vcore voltages are almost the sames i put in last posts. But playing with amplitude diffrential Volt. IOH an QPI a little.

...

This next days i upload screens captures and numbers. Good luck!

CPU Cooler: Antec Kuhler 920
PSU : Thermaltake TR2 700w

Shmee and I got the CPU up to 3.4Ghz on my setup with x17 multiplier and Vcore at 1.275 QPI/Vtt 1.2 cannot remember the rest of the settings b/c my board reset itself back to 3.2Ghz at 200 bclk

Aurkitu.

Hi, I did 50 passes IBT at standard and 50 passes at High setting. Everything is OK. My memory are Dominator GT 2000Mhz, but I'm running them at 1600Mhz at 1.58v. I will try to lower it to 1.5v.
Thanks

I wonder, what kind of Handbrake score that overclock would produce? :awe:

For $100 or so you guys are buying it for, it sure as hell is a very fun chip to play with

Be patient, I ordered one and expecting it to arrive in two weeks.. Will be testing it with ex58-extreme board which goes easy 200blck..

ex58-extreme is very nice board at least it look like it, but what i need is more PCIE slots 1 is for Raid controller that need x8,2x x1 for NIC and USB3.0, 2-3 x8 for VGA so GB G1.ASSASSIN fits me well. But i'll waiting i hope it can hit 210+ !

It seems like it should do, its newer board with more features and was more expensive in those times. For how much you'll getting it?

Very nice OC's guys.

I'm thinking about picking up one of those CPUs but I'm not sure if my mobo would be compatible. I am using a Biostar T-power X58 running an i7 920. This looks like a good upgrade if it works

Should be compatible with any X58. Keep in mind the need for a high BCLK.
This chip does not complete the POST with the Biostar Tpower X58 I have received. I will need to procure a Bloomfield to see what exactly the motherboard's state is at, but this board is probably incompatible.

Is the BIOS flashed with a version that supports Gulftown?

I can't tell right now because I don't have a Bloomfield to get it to work, but my board is NOT beeping in anyway. It is turns on but is immediately stuck in limbo. My keyboard lights don't even flash. That said, even if it is flashed to the latest BIOS(a beta, no less), I don't see any Xeons on the CPU support page at Biostar's website.

If you read back in the thread there was an incompatible EVGA board as well, something about the QPI links and the fact these Xeons have 2 instead of just one.
