So my BIOS got reset when swapping power supplies this weekend. Ended up erasing my overclock, what I found however is that when running at the stock 2.13GHz (133BLCK) the 18x multiplier works just fine under full load (12 threads @2.4GHz) change the BCLK and the 18x doesn't work at all. This is on a P6T. Any ideas?

I actually just have it running at stock for right now @1V. Pretty sweet seeing 60W idle power usage for the whole computer and ~122ish W at full CPU load. Full CPU and GPU load...forget it...over 700W!

I went against the grain and installed this chip onto a Bloodrage. Previous members said it would either not boot over 150 bclock or show only 2/3 memory channels.

So far I can get over 150 bclock no problem and it recognizes all three channels of memory unless vtt is set too low. A few questions below if anyone can help after seeing these settings.

CPU Features
PPM ...............................: Enabled
EIST ..............................: Enabled
CxE................................: Auto

Memory Timings
Extreme Memory Profile XMP ........: Disabled
Memory Profile Select .............:
DRAM Timing Control ...............: Manual
tCL (CAS Latency) .................: 8T
tRCG (RAS to CAS Delay) ...........: 8T
tRP (RAS Precharge) ...............: 8T
tRAS (Precharge Delay) ............: 24T
CR (Command Rate) .................: 2T

All Voltage Settings

CPU Voltages
CPU Core Voltage ..................: +20mV
CPU Vdroop Compensation ...........: disabled
CPU VTT (UnCore) Voltage ..........: +160mV
1.8 PPL Voltage Setting ...........: 1.800V
CPU Clock Amplitude Ctrl ..........: 0.800V

Memory Voltages
DRAM Voltage ......................: 1.65V

Chipset Voltages
X58 IOH Core Voltage .............: 1.2V

CPU Turbo .........................: Always On (still drops to 16x multi when on all 6 cores)
System Turbo ......................: Enabled

Clock Speed Control Center
CPU Bclock (FSB) ................: 160MHz
QPI Link Fast Mode ..............: Enabled
QPI Multiplier ..................: x22
QPI Target Speed ................: 3520MHz
CPU Core Multiplier .............: x16
CPU Core Target Speed ...........: 2560MHz
CPU Uncore Multiplier ...........: x15
CPU Uncore Target Speed .........: 2560MHz
Memory Bus Multiplier ...........: x10
Memory Bus Target Speed .........: 1604MHZ
PCI Express Bus Clock............: 102MHz

Q1: Any significant gain from running the uncore at > 1.5 mem?

Q2: I am still trying to sort out the jumping voltage. For some reason intel burn test on the highest stress level provides the least voltage? I assume this has to do with the turbo settings?

Example:
Intel burn test: core: 1.024 vtt :1.216 and while just browsing can all the sudden call for 1.2v core and the same 1.216 vtt.

If you don't have a adequate PC already..... if I were you I would've just went with a latest platform \ latest Intel architect. There's really no use to be spending money on Micro ATX boards and older EoL tech when you can put that money towards newer things. X58 has been dead for sometime now. I guess if you can get some parts for cheap it's not that bad. The X58 is all I have. I've been using it for some years now and thought about upgrading several times. I'm glad I didn't now. If I didn't have this chipset I would've just went with Haswell or the X79 Sandy Bridge-E or something.

12GB RAM Triple is going to run you at least $80+ if you are lucky. Realistically you'll be spending anywhere from $100-$130 depending on if you are buying new and the websites you visit. There are a ton of SSD's to choose from. It's all about how much you want to spend on it. You'll have to make the best decision on the GPUs. I've been contemplating getting a 7990 for sometime now. I'm currently running two GTX 670 2-way SLI.

The reason why I went for the L5639 and x 58 rampage gene III board was to save the extra bucks(1/3 the price of i7 4770k) and spend it on 2 x 7970 / r9 280x.
Lets hope this is a wise choice.

Was wondering is it wise to pay for 2 pair of Kingston Hyper beast and use 3 sticks on my X58 rampage III Gene. Will placing the ram in this configuration make it run triple channel?
http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-1866M...kingston+beast

Do you guys think I can savage any parts from my current 5 year old system?

Cpu : QX6800
RAM : Kingston Hyper x 1600mhz(cl9) 4gb
Gpu : HD4890
Mainboard : Intel x48bt2
Psu : Cooler Master 850W

I think that will depend on what you plan to do on this rig.

If you are building this as a gaming rig Haswell is a better choice.

If you plan to use this as a multipurpose rig and have software that will use more cores then this is a better choice.

Oh Yea .... it is a multipurpose rig..

I plan to use it for triple screen gaming mainly games such as :
1. Iracing
2. F1 2013
3. GameStockCar 2013
4. BattleField 4

Software :
1. PhotoShop cs4
2. Video conversion

I am intending to use liquid cooling for this rig....
so what rams do you guys recommend?

Get fast ram if you're going to push this rig.

This seems to be the best deal right now & I've heard good things about them too..
Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000)

At the bare minimum you should get DDR3 1600 in a good brand..

Will look into that..

Appreciate your advice.
As I have never overclock any computer in my life .
I will need all the tips and tricks from you guys if you guys don't mind.

As for rams :

I believe stock ram speed for this processor is 1333mhz?
Do i need to overclock to hit 1600mhz ram speed ?
Apart from that if I were to buy a 2000mhz... will i be able to hit 2000mhz ram speed?

While ram speed is important you gotta remember x58 is triple channel

1600 is a good starting point which already provides close to 25GB/s of bandwidth the return in performance with high speed memory will only be seen in synthetic benchmarks and applications that are memory bound which aren't many.

i've seen people using DDR 3 2000 in X58 it works fine. The limiting factor will be the board in this case.

Any dual socket boards that allow overclocking of these CPUs other than the EVGA model?

okay... shall get 2000mhz Ram...

From what I understand different ram have different timming , voltages and etc.

I have spotted these few sets of ram which prices are quite close.

So does 3 Sticks of Dominator GT 2000mhz(9-10-9-27 1.65v) process more data than these rams :
1) 3 Sticks of Kingston Beast 2400mhz (11-13-13-36 1.65V)
2) 3 Sticks of RipjawsZ 2133mhz (9-11-10-28 1.65V)
3) 3 Sticks of Team Vulcan 2133 mhz (11-11-11-31 1.65V)

Am I right to say the lower the timming the faster the ram is?

I picked up a Corsair H80 from Fry's and was able to test stability @4GHz. unfortunately the only way I could have decent temps was to have the H80 at full blast, which is way too noisy. I'll stick with my Hyper 212+ and dial back the GHz.

Anyone who know how i can lower my QPI link speed of my board.Im at 200BCLK and i am a bit shaky when i see the QPI link frequency is over 8Ghz

Also i have try to set it to X36 but as far as i can see it still say x44 in the M.T.I summary page in bios. Not sure if i have change the right parameter. I have a X58 Gigabyte UD5 board

CPU multi X16
Ram multi X8
UnCore X16
BCLK 200
QPI was set to auto before (X44)~8Ghz
(Have the option slow mode, X36, X44, X48)
Turboboost Disable

----------
3,2Ghz cpu
1600Mhz memory speed
^8Ghz qpi frequency

Anyone who has a Gigabyte board who can share their settings?

As long as you don't have a heat problem, you're good to go. The chip has 2 QPI links, so figure half what the board says.

Ok thanks !

Well then i have to figure out what other thing that may cause the stabillity problem after 200BCLK. Thought it was the QPI frequency!

The system runs at maximum 50 Deg.. celsius with Intels CPU loading tool so it runs pretty cool

We are pushing this low power Xeon hard by upping Buss clock more than 50%. Getting 3600mhz out of this chip is amazing, and really makes this Hex core the best value going.. Be happy with 6 cores working at 200bclk.. I sure am!

Yes i am but i only have 3200Mhz at 200BCLK . But still amazing as you say!! Question is what have missed? i run it in 16x cpu multi... with no turbo and speedstep activated. May be the cause why i get 3.2GHz? Can i force the CPU to use all 18x ?

Anyway will try to figure out how to push this feather and then step back to 3.2 and tweak the voltages. Just want to know if i can reach 3.6Ghz

YES! Enable Speedstep, Turbo & CE states if available.. I forget what mine says on boot up (runs 24X7) but I think it's like 3.21 or something, but as you see in the benchmarks i posted, It kicks up when required & gives similar performance as an I7-970 at 1/3 the price

222 already puts you near the top of recorded samples. How much higher are you expecting to hit?

Maybe 4.2 on a Rampage 3 black edition. Not even sure if the board is compatible. My friend owned it and he managed to reach 4.8ghz stable on his 980x with it. I guess I'll find out if motherboards are the limiting factor when it comes to pushing these chips.

Ran this passmark today and i must say i am pretty satisfied with the cpu score.
Stable 3.5GHz 55deg full load.
1.2V vcore
1.26V QPI/VVT
1.14V IOH Core

!Also i managed to squeeze some juice out of my GTX 580 too!
Stable at a maximum 70deg full load!
Core 874MHz
Mem 1035MHz
Shader 1748MHz

Update for people using the Bloodrage. Here are my rock solid settings for 200 block. Appears to be a hole from 202-206 and anything over 208 it drops a slot of memory. I did not try raising vtt over 1.3 to see if it would solve this as I wanted to keep this thing cool as it runs under load 24/7. I also tried raising the uncore however anything over 1.5x would cause random reboots and I would have to remove/reinstall the bios battery to get them to stop! Simply clearing the bios would not solve the random reboots.

Well i am a bit confused! I have a problem that my scores is getting worse when i raise the BCLK above 195 in passmark

From 3.5GHz to 3.7GHz i get 2 points less in singel treaded test. I have double checked four times.
Also why isnt the CPU uses the X19 and X20 ? Rock solid x18 when I stress this CPU with EIST(Speedstep) and turboboost on,Doesn't matter if the CPU is in Stockclock. Been at 65deg at maximum in 3.8GHz with Intel burntest
Feels like there is a limit in the system somewhere when i get less scores with higher frequency. 3.5GHz seams to be the top score, After that its going down
This sucks!
