XFL Ratings

Did anyone hear what the ratings were for the XFL this past weekend? Usually the paper says, but they haven't mentioned it lately.

Anyone know how bad they were this week?

last I heard was like 1.8 or something..Pretty sad considering I thought the players were getting better.. Um I don't like basketball so this crap is looking pretty good right now

XFL ratings have been a favorite topic of the media. However, they usually neglect to mention that the XFL on NBC out-delivered NBC's NBA Basketball, CBS' NCAA Basketball, FOX's NASCAR NAPA 300, ABC's Bob Hope Classic, and Figure Skating on ABC. Only the Daytona 500 the week of 2/19 - 2/25 out-performed the XFL, among sports programs according to the Neilsen ratings.

But the past weekend saw the combined ratings at a 4.3, with the NBC broadcast on Saturday night doing a 2.8 or something.

And of course next week, "In a desperate attempt at ratings, the XFL will go into the cheerleaders' locker room".

From 1wrestling:

The Saturday night game on NBC did just a 2.4 broadcast rating, with a 4.4 share.
The Sunday night game on UPN did a 1.2 broadcast rating, with a 1.9 share.
The Sunday afternoon game on TNN did a 0.9 cable rating, with a 1.8 share.

In aggregate, that means that the XFL did far less than half of the weekly 10 to 11 rating that they promised advertisers before the season.

I think what they should do is bring Benoit in.

They should keep the XFL alive just for the possibility of the video game. You could do press slams and clothesline tackles..and when a guy is near the endlines, he should go through a table.

The problem is that people have passed judgement already. I don't mind watching it. There are a few minor things that irritate me(jesse ventura was great as a WWF announcer. He blows goats in the XFL). I knew that the play would not be NFL caliber. There was WAYYYYY to much hype and promotion of the &quot;real football&quot; bologna.

Also, people instantly degrade, insult, and hate the XFL because it is associated with the WWF.

The last poll I viewed clearly stated that most people are turned off by the poor caliber of play, which is expected considering the relatively low wage scale.

If ANYBODY BUT VM were to introduce a football league with players who earn almost nothing and have a league with no owners, who the hell who would care? Instead, we have someone who wants to use smoke and mirrors and create the illusion that this is product is entertaining. Clearly, McMahon expected the teen/young adult marks to be instantly transfixed to this garbage because he is own the XFL. Then he brings in Ventura and Butkus hoping to capitalize on the older audience. Well, guess what? Neither demographic is watching. In fact, this past Saturday's 10:00pm-11:00pm hour drew a 1.9 rating which translates into the LOWEST PRIME TIME HOUR RATING IN HISTORY for the big three networks.

In addition Ross Report=WWF Propganda. Whether he mixed up the dates intentionally or not is for you to decide. Clearly, he was misleading the public:
