Ohh that's tempting - could replace the 4650 in my spare rig. I really don't need it though! Agh!

called BB near me, its $160. =\ not so hot for me.

Number 1 rule regarding Hot Deals-never ever call the store. 99% of the time you end up alerting them and killing the deal for everyone. If you can't bother to check it out in person pass on the deal.

unless it was a price mistake, it won't do any harm to call and ask for a price check. Are you afraid the lady on the other end of the line will ninja the item?

Thump just gave you some good advice.
The first rule of etiquette amongst bargain shoppers is NEVER CALL.
If you can't check it out yourself, the least you can do is not ruin it for everyone else and just leave it as is.
And yes, employees are very grateful when you call and alert them to a deal they otherwise might not be aware of.

"And yes, employees are very grateful when you call and alert them to a deal they otherwise might not be aware of. "

True dat. Also: prices in the computer may not be reflected in on the shelf and changes to the pricing of a single item may not be circulated to the employees or even section level management. The employee may just read the price on the shelf and not bother scan the item until you start going on about this great deal you read about "on the internet".

The person at the checkout counter has no idea how good a deal a $85 "computer card" is and will sell it to you for whatever it scans in at. The person on the phone can easily put you on hold and tell their manager that a certain item in their section is suddenly $100 off in an un-advertised special.

If any of your read the original post on slickdeals, its YMMV. It wouldn't have mattered if I called. Besides I didn't call asking for a price check, I called asking if they had any in stock, and they told me the price. Im pretty sure this was a 1 store only deal in TX

I had seen this on clearance in Springfield but they sold out. When I saw that St. Louis had some I drove there yesterday and was there when they opened. While many stores were clearancing them nationally they wouldn't budge off of 170....

So a 250 mile drive for naught.

I don't think anyone is saying that you killed this deal but that in the future please try to avoid calling because it has been known to kill deals in the past.

lol, I remember my CompUSA days. I would just scour their database all day for deals since we used to get an incrediable discount at cost on particular items.

never call! by the time you get there the items will all be pulled for employee purchase.

Thanks OP, nice find.

Bump to garritynet and SteelyKen, you are both right on the money. Never call.

That is "etiquette amongst bargain shoppers."
I have seen CSR's walk up next to me and pull an item off the shelf completely while telling the customer on the phone they were out of stock.
Back in the day, CompUSA was even worse at this. Ninja's? You better believe it, sometimes, lol.
