XFX 6950 1gb and 2gb

so a few questions about these cards:

1) are they the same length? Different sites say different things
2) will they both fit in an antec 300?
3) is it even needed to go up to the 2gb model if I dont game above 1920 resolution?
4) do XFX produce decent versions of these cards compared to other companies?

my main concern right now is regarding the antec 300 case

The main difference is that the 2GB versions can be flashed/unlocked and overclocked to a 6970 while the 1GB versions cannot. If this is something that interests you, then make sure you pick up a reference 6950 2GB (the one with the ATI/AMD classic blower HSF) because there are quite a few non-reference designs on the market right now.

my XFX 6950 1gb xxx is about 10 inches long and fits comfortably in my Antec 300 case

Here is a pic of it inside the case. Now if you have like 5 hard drives you might run into some difficulty, but otherwise you will be fine.

I think the reference cards are about a 1/2-3/4 of an inch longer. They should still fit, although like I said earlier you may have to relocate a hard drive if you have one aligned with the card.

I just bought the Sapphire 1GB version and from what I've seen it's the same length as the XFX version. In fact like what was mentioned above I believe the reference designs are the only cards that are longer. As for the difference between the 1 and 2GB Length other than if you get a reference design no there's no difference.

I just have to say that coming from Xfired 5770s this card is really nice. It's a definite appreciable upgrade for me at least and I'm glad I got away from dual cards. Less heat, less noise, no wonky glitches with some games that don't like Xfire, etc.. I'd say that unless you do Eyefinity or higher than 1920 resolutions stick with the 1GB version. The price difference isn't really that severe but eh use the extra money and buy a game or two on sale. That's what I did.

Will the 1GB 6950 fit an Antec Solo?
