XFX 850w vs Corsair AX850 vs Seasonic X 850

which one should I get?

Looking in the future to upg to:

SB 2600K, stock
2x HD 6970, stock
have a couple hdd and a ssd, 2 dvd-rw's, and a tv tuner

The XFX is cheapest, and seasonic most expensive. Would the XFX be good enough to last 5 yrs without crapping out?

XFX Black Edition is closer to the Seasonic M12D series? I say the Seasonic X-series and Corsair AX series are better.

BTW, there was a sale on the AX850 yesterday or something. IT was on Slickdeals. $20 rebate + $20 coupon makes it $149.99 + SH at Newegg. I bought one.

the xfx is 110 after rebate, the ax850 is 150 after rebate.

Is the reliability of ax850 worth it over the xfx? I just need it to last 5 yrs, and I don't overclock

There is basically no reason not to get the XFX. The Seasonic/Corsair (basically the same PSU) are not more reliable. They are just more efficient.

I read some review at hardocp (jg site is down), they said the only downside about this is it runs a little hotter and it's fan isn't as good as the seasonic oem unit the xfx is based on. I think I'll just get the xfx considering price

+1 for the XFX if you're looking for the best bang for the buck. If you live in Canada, NCIX.com is selling the 850W unit for $100 after rebate.

Seems like a high percentage of negative reviews for that psu (on newegg site). Maybe a bad batch but still....

Yes, the XFX is now at least $60 less than the Corsair/Seasonic, but it is not the same PSU and is not the same quality. It is based on the older Seasonic M12D, which did not receive stellar reviews on newegg when it was available. It's your call. If you have the money, the new Corsair/Seasonic is more efficient and probably more reliable. Between the Corsair and Seasonic, get whichever is cheaper. That's usually the Corsair. I don't believe they are exactly the same, however, as the Corsair combines features of the old x750 and the new x850. Some have noted that the Corsair may not have the gold-plated connectors of Seasonic's new 850w model.

I have the XFX Black Edition 850W, runs my setup fine, Excellent volotage output and I have yet to hear the supply at all. I wouldn't trust reviews off Newegg at all. JG has a good review on it. Only downfall as it were is that the cables are a bit stiff on it but that doesn't matter much.

I didn't mean to suggest that this XFX is not a good PSU. It is, and at $90 it's a steal if you need this kind of capacity. But it is a slightly older design that isn't directly comparable to the AX850 or x850.

XFX 850W is a AWESOME power supply for the price. It is slightly and I mean slightly less capable than the newer AX850 and x850, but once you factor in cost I would not consider the other two as there is no real added value or tangible performance/effeciency benefits.

[H] gave the XFX their gold award and jonnyguru gave it a 9.6/10 score where the Corsair scored a 9/10. I trust both those sites testing methodologies over any other sites.

No one should ever trust newegg reviews period. Just read a few of them. My mother in law has left reviews there and she has had to call me on how to open the side of her computer case before.

The thread I linked to also has the JonnyGuru reviews for the XFX and the Seasonic M12D, not just Newegg reviews. Yes, JonnyGuru is very positive, but he doesn't test long-term reliability, which is why it helps to also look at Newegg reviews. When you compare hundreds or even thousands of reviews and see trends, I think it says something. The Seasonic-branded reviews are almost always five stars, as are Corsair, which is why it's interesting that the Seasonic M12D, which is no longer sold, did have some negative reviews regarding reliability.
