It wouldn't be that big of an overclock, and card manufacturers have been known to sell cards that are overclocked like that right out of the box. Besides, just look at leadtek or gainward's 5900--both sell a model that only has 2.8ns ram. Still, even if it is just 2.8ns ram $177 is a hell of a deal for a 5900. I don't need a video card but I'm really tempted to jump on this..
I'm pretty sure the XFX card will have 2.2ns or 2.4ns memory.
http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/winfast_a350_tdh_lx_2.html Only the "A350 TDH LX" version of the A350 has 2.8ns memory. The regular A350 TDH versions use 2.2ns memory. Gainward has been selling overclocked GPUs and memory for a while, but they're an oddball that way. XFX does sell some gimped cards, but it's clear from the SE or "64-bit" designation on the box that the products are slower. I've never heard of an overclocked out of the box XFX model, so if this one is overclocked, it will be a first. I expect 2.2ns or 2.4ns memory on the model that ships.

I received the XFX 5900 today. I took off the heatsink and it has 2.2ns Hynix memory. See my post at FW's corresponding thread (page 3) if you want pictures or more details.

Can i get a link to thread, or the title of it?
The one shown on newegg.com is exactly what I received: S-Video cable, 3 full games + driver and demo CDs, DVI-VGA adapter, exact same card, etc. The product shown on xfxforce.com is the 5900 Ultra.Originally posted by: Blackroot

with all these FX 5900 deals that went on.. I wonder if I made a mistake by ordering a 9700 Pro (OEM white box) for a little less than $200....
been doing some research and comparing the two but kind of hard to find info cuz they don't really put these 2 cards in a match up. Though I did find a site and it looked like 5900 beat 9700 Pro in most benchmarks (but they were mostly DX8 games)
Any ideas? New 9700 Pro OEM with no accessories VS 5900 non-ultra brand new with the pretty box and accessories for about the same price... what do you guys think? Also heard from a friend that 5900's are getting cheap because their DX9 capabilities are hampered and thus were fixed in 5700 and 5950.
