XFX geforce 8800 GTS Extreme overclock ?

Hai folks !

I just want to know how much you are sqeezing from your 8800 GTS cards from XFX.

XfX has a model called 8800 GTS Extreme which is factory clocked at 580/1300/1800.

Has anybody tried to overclock this card any further ?

If so

please post your speeds.....with maximum stable overclock speed.

I have the EVGA overclocked card 576/1500 and got it up to 625/1900 Haven't pushed it farther cuz I really don't need to yet.

625 core and 1900 memory? isnt 1900 mem kinda too high? I have a EVGA 8800 GTS 640 mb and it came at 513/792. with that, i got a 3dmark06 score of ~8700. I OCed it to 620/1000 and now im getting 10327. Do these scores seem about right? is it safe to push the card further? temps hover around 65-70C while playing HL2

actually, i just realized that you get a lower score if you dont run it in their stock settings (1280x1024/noAA/optimal filtering). I was running at 16x12/2xAA/4xAF which got me the 10327 score. I just ran again in their default settings and got 12241 @621/999 and Q6600@3.2GHz

Dont know if OCed CPU has any effect on 3dmark06 scores or not.

The original poster posted the "actual" memory speed, and since the memory is DDR, the speed = clock rate * 2.

It's actually set at 950 for the memory on mine. 950 x 2 = 1900mhz, and you are running at 1000 x 2 = 2000mhz

Don't do anything crazy like moving the slider to 2ghz...That would actually give you 4ghz and make your card hotter than the sun! lol

I just got the XFX Fata1ty 320MB today and I am at 684/1728/2160. That's about as high as it will go. Crazy fast though as I get 14,755 3DMarks06 at 1280X720 with a Q6600 @ 3.2. I'm not sure if 720p gives you much higher score than 1280x1024. This should be as fast as a stock GTX at those speeds (lower resolutions) for only $388.

I've got my Leadtek at 650/2000, anyone pushed the core speed past that yet? The funny thing is at 680 with the fan left on 'auto', it freezes on the second 3DMark06 test. It's odd because before it does that the fan doesn't even go to 85% (I can hear), so that would mean it isn't a temperature problem right?

I doubt it is temps. The newer drivers have a more aggressive throttling profile in them. Mine is stable in Atitool @ 702, but i I close the window it locks up and it crashes in 3dmark after a minute. I know it is more aggressive because on my 640 I could go 648 with no issues and the last two drivers it will lock up immediately at 648.

I bet it is to prevent the new 8800GT from OC'ing enough to beat the 8800GTS, because why would it suddenly appear now after a year?

Thanks for all your replies. I Oc'd my 8800 GTS card to 653 core and 983 memory .

Thats the maximum I can get.

And one more thing, My card idle at 60C at stock speeds. Is this normal? I saw on different forums that these cards idles at around 50C - 55C.

That's a lower resolution of course it will give you better score.
