Wow that is cheap, almost picked up a 7800GT last month, glad I waited, the 7900GT now costs less.

Pirces dropping all over the place on VPU's. Newegg dropped the price of the X1900XT to $439

Oooh I was gonna say I got burned for $15 for one week but I've got the XFX 7900GT Xtreme.
520/1500 OC out the box.

Looking at newegg, there is an even higher Xtreme(550/1630) for $350. Same price at ZZF for this one too.

That card is definitely hot. $289.99 for a comparable 7800GTX 256MB is really wonderful news. And like jlin101 said, the cheap price certainly allows an AS Silencer or a Zalman, and then overclock to the crazier versions of the 7900GT's .

A good hope, but I just noticed monarch is no longer selling 7800GTs of any variety -- could be a sign of times to come.

Looks like at least the high volume etailers are not bothering to stock last gen cards when a clearly superior comprably priced solution is out there. I guess they learned their lesson with the X800XTPE and 6800 Ultra series (some etailers are *STILL* dreaming of getting nearly $500 for those)

I think that the main bonus of the extreme version is that you're `guaranteed' that it'll do those frequencies. The cards are identical though, so that means that they're doing some speed binning along the way, so the more expensive ones are likely to overclock better. It's a lot like buying a processor that way really.

One of these puppies with a Silencer will likely run cooler and quieter, along with increasing your overclocking headroom too. Or just prolonging the life of your card and system. =)

Very Nice Card Score 8598 in 3DMARK05 at stock speed.

I was hoping it will drop a few bucks for SLI but I see it's not gonna happen at least for awhile.
