TD-SCDMA is used in China not the US so no Verizon and Sprint (you want lte anyway on those networks)

No 1700/2100 so it will be a sucky T-Mobile phone. Sure it can do 1900 mhz but that is 21 mbps and if your 1900 PCS 21 mbps is crowded you drop down to the 2G 1900, and even that 2G t-mobile is reframing over the next 2 years.

Please if you are going to use this as a phone in the US do yourself a favor and buy a nexus or a moto g lte and stay away from the headaches of trying to get non US phones with non US frequencies working in the US.

I'll pass on the chicom phone that sends all your data back to china. Who knows what else it's doing in the process. I wouldn't trust those phones for anything, plus you're going to be dealing with issues trying to get it on US carrier networks, not getting LTE and stuff, you're much better off for the price to get a nexus or galaxy phone.

I live in Brazil, I'll be in the USA just for a couple of days, and chinese bands are similar to brazil's. And there are some tricks you can do to block the data espionage thing.

While I have no idea whether they are stealing data or just backing it up, like some Google Android services do, that article is full of crap. They claim that the data stealing process runs even after you reflash with a different firmware, yet they think they can block that same process with a simple iptables rule?!? If XiaoMi has some special data thieving algorithm running at a hardware level below the phone's OS / firmware, then how is a simple iptables rule on Android going to stop it??
