The Mi Pad has gone on sale in China this week. Usually I'm not envious of Chinese tablets, but Xiaomi seems to be really working to be more of a premium brand and this Mi Pad looks quite nice.

16 and 64GB options

It sells for $240 for 16GB and $270 for 64GB. This will almost certainly not be sold directly in the North America, but I imagine you'll be able to import it after the NSA intercepts it and removes the Chinese spy bugs for US spy bugs. But I love that the price bump from 16 to 64GB is very modest. A 16 to 64GB storage bump from Apple or Samsung typically costs $200 more (so stupid).

I have the same holdup.

They're smart enough to know that people ROM phones/tablets. So I et they build in hardware based spying. US Gov likely too. But China probably has their fingers in their manu's much more than US

I doubt they'd go to that much trouble, since software is so much easier. Even then, it wouldn't be too hard to test for.

PC Per bought a Mi Pad from AliExpress and tested it out. The review wasn't too indepth, but he did cover the performance and battery life. It did excellent in performance, blew everything away on the GPU tests as expected and still did pretty well on the battery testing, getting over 9 hours web browsing.

I wish he talked about the screen, speakers, and build quality, those didn't really get covered, other than saying it's a glossy tablet.

He paid about $344 for his and it seems the prices have come down some, I see them going for as low at $280 now, though if you opt for expedited shipping that brings it to around $300. And you might want to do that because free ship from China could take well over a month.

With the Tegra Tablet coming out this month, you won't need to import a Chinese tablet to get a K1 soon. However there are pretty much now quality 4:3 ratio Android tablets, so this would be the rare opportunity to get one if you really crave that screen size but don't like iOS.

I was tempted to order this because of the aspect ratio. But I got too many tablets, I need to exercise some restraint.

Do Mi4/3/2 phones work ok on USA t-mobile or they miss some bands?

With the Tegra Tablet coming out this month, you won't need to import a Chinese tablet to get a K1 soon. However there are pretty much now quality 4:3 ratio Android tablets, so this would be the rare opportunity to get one if you really crave that screen size but don't like iOS.

That, and a 64GB storage + a mSD slot. I don't know of any android tablet that offers that combo.
