There's actually a way to make all readline apps use them, by editing ~/.inputrc, but I don't know it offhand, and for some reason, I only want it in bash anywaysOriginally posted by: cleverhandle
And thanks for the tip, BBWF. I had been meaning to try the vi bindings for quite a while now, but somehow never bothered to look up the syntax for setting them.
:Q:Q Blasphemy! It's just like vi as a text editor - once you're used to it, you HATE editing in anything else. I HATE having to sit there and press the arrow keys to get around, or try to remember alt+B/F etc, I can just zip around with w and b, A, I, dw, etc etcThough I think that you're not likely to get that much out of bindings unless you're habitually stringing out big pipelines and such.
I actually never use ZZ. In vi I use :w/:Q/:wq and in bash I just use ^D to exit. The k=command history is pretty slick, though. But if I'm going to put my fingers in vi mode at the shell, I'm going to have to figure out how to map ZZ=exit.

BBWF, if you're using RedHat, you can just apt-get scrot if you want to...too bad you have that lingering hatred for apt-rpm
Of course, I try not to use RedHat as a desktop for the most part, but you're probably forced into it at work; beats being forced to use Windows, anyway

Well, they ARE about a decade (almost exactly) behind
Guess they haven't gotten to that package yet...
Here's a list of a few more repositories for ya (just for giggles)
For Apt-RPM

There's not much of a difference between the two, really, but I'd rather run Mandrake than RH as a desktop anyway.

The 'drake repositories are like that partially because not a lot of people use apt-rpm on Mandrake since they already have urpmi.

Ahh, ok... that's odd that it has no support for Debian.

Not too odd.. I can't imagine many companies use debian on their desktop machines.
