I checked outpost.com and they don't even have XM radios for sale.

My first REAL post, please be gentle.

For those of us with no local Fry's, Crutchfield has this unit for $199.99 with a $100 "instant rebate" that is shown when you add it to your cart. I don't see any reason why you can't use this MIR with the IR.

Furthermore, the great gods of the overweight billfold helped me to see the light of using a MasterCard to get another $20 off.

The cheapest antenna Crutchfield has (that I see) is the $39.99 Terk TM11 through-the-glass thing.

So $199.99 + $39.99 - $100 IR - $100 MIR - $20 MasterCard rebate =~ $19.98. Unless I'm missing something. Am I?

No link to the item at Crutchfield because if you want the MasterCard deal you have to follow a special link. You can always search for product number 130FM903XM on their site to find it.

Here's a link to the coupon from the original thread (this was posted by sabrownfl so he gets all the credit): Rizzity-ebate

Seriously hope I'm not missing something major - it is late here.

NICE aarhd I've been looking for a satellite radio option for awhile since I really haven't listened to anything but NPR for about 3 years.

Outpost lacks a LOT of what Fry's has in-store. Remember, Outpost was acquired by Fry's, and while they've tried to combine the operations, they haven't really done much. That is, Outpost and Fry's B&M still pretty much operate separately, with the exception of the occasional deal. :|

Do you think they will honor that MIR if you buy from Crutchfield? I am kinda wary of it, but it seems like a great deal. What I noticed is that the rebate form says $100 rebate for the GEX-FM903XM and Crutchfield has the same (amount) rebate. The form also states that there is a $50 rebate for the GEX-P900XM and Crutchfield is also has a similar rebate. I'm just thinking that Pioneer would cover their a$$es in order not to give away a free FM tuner. If anyone has any info, please give I would really like to get this unit.

Subscribe to XM radio, and you'll enjoy digital-quality sound, coast-to-coast coverage, and music, news, sports and entertainment, all for $9.99 a month. Commuters, truckers, traveling salespeople ? anyone who spends time on the road will appreciate XM's endless variety.

Never did much research on XM radio, but kinda sucks that u have to subscribe....

That's what I thought too till a couple of days ago when I got mine ($99 for complete package incl activation). I just love it even after only a week. I'm an old guy and still remember the peak of "progressive radio programming" back in the early 70's. I just can get over how much fun it is to listen to radio again. One more thing, I had to make a call to tech support for a refresh and they answered after, at most, a two minute hold and took care of the problem within 15 minutes.

Well you get what you pay for. If you want free radio then tune into FM and get 15 minutes of ads per hour, as well as the same old songs over and over and over and over... . Someday I hope to be able to afford XM Radio but at the moment I can't justify $10/month on something I'd only listen to an hour per day at most.

Don't it, though? What sucks even more is that motels charge for an overnight stay, even if you leave before dawn...

I did some research (and boy are my flunkies tired), and satellite radio seems like a great deal. My brother, a long-haul trucker, loves it. For one thing, he doesn't spend so much on CDs.

Well, looking at Crutchfield's site: Crutchfield is an Authorized Internet Retailer for Sony, Pioneer, Bose, Kenwood, Polk Audio, Infinity, JBL, Blaupunkt, Clarion, Acoustic Research, Yamaha -- and every other brand we offer.
From the rebate: Receipt must show the name of the Authorized Pioneer Dealer....

So, as long as Internet Retailer = Dealer, this looks really tempting.

It's worth every penny. I've had XM since last August and I can safely say it has been one of the best investments I've ever made. I never listen to FM anymore.

All I can say in response to this is that I've seen it before. TiVo was selling their units at or a little below cost for a while to try to attract new users to pay the monthly fee for service (where they really make money). I'm not surprised if they actually intend the tuners to go out cheaply, at least for a short time.

And if XM is really as good as people say it is (on XM sites as well as in this thread), think about what kind of word-of-mouth advertising they're going to get from all of us.

XM is awesome, but not for me. I don't drive enough to justify it, and my car doesn't have anywhere elegant to install it :/

Go with the Delphi Skyfi and you are not limited to your car. If you are not familiar with this unit, think of it as a PDA, move the radio wherever you have a cradle. I got in on the $50 best buy coupon and I have 4 home cradles, 2 car cradles and a boombox. One subscription and I have XM everywhere. XM is the best, I am addicted. I have had it since XMAS and I love it.

Why do you hate FM radio? An overload of commercials and fluff, right? When you signed up did they ever guarantee that a commercial / fluff invasion would not happen on XM? I think you're all in for a reality check real soon. The last time I checked, there are just as many commercials and other annoyances on cable TV as "free" TV. They're just being good right now to reel everyone in.

Yeah, but the Delphi model doesn't have a $100.00 MIR.

Dude, you have it all wrong. It's all about programming. People go to cable or satellite for programming, or necessity due to signal, not to get away from commercials. Except for Howard Stern, all FM is crap. XM does have ads now on certain stations, but they are hardly noticable. Most of the stations are commercial free. Sirius currently does not have ads, but I bet that that will change with their financial situation. XM is in better financial shape. I suggest that you try it If you listen to music at all, you will love it. Great programming, great reception, everywhere.

Because you missed it, I am sure that some sort of promo will be back. The Best buy coupon was great. Not to brag, but I got my Skyfi for $20 ($129 - $50 coupon - $60 rebate), each home/car unit for $20 ($70 - $50 coupon) and a boom box for $50 ($100 - $50 coupon). I also got 3 months free. I got $610 worth of stuff for $160. My wife got in on the $99 deal that included a Skyfi and a home unit and 3 months.

You go with the Pioneer, you are limited to the car.

I know I missed it, that's my point. The deal is DEAD, yet you suggest we get the Delphi Skyfi.

BTW, the Sony model has a $75.00 MIR right now, but the lowest price I could find on the net was for about $175.00---so the rebate brings it down to $100.00, which isn't that great, but it is portable, like the Delphi unit.
