I have the old home kits, so I do not know if the new ones have optical. I have heard that they have USB.

One thing to think about if you are deciding between a boombox and a car kit. The SkiFi2 has a built in FM modulator that has a decent range. Park your car in the driveway and you can pickup XM on your old FM boombox in the garage. A poormans boombox. The FM modulator also works in the home kit. At work I have my Skifi2 running in an old home kit with the FM modulator on so my colleagues can listen in on their FM walkmans. Pretty cool.

EDIT: If I didn't have everything already, I would get the boombox. That's the best value.

Yea see thats what im wondering. The kit might not include an optical but does the radio itself has a digital output?? Also can i hook it up to my computer speakers?

I would love to have it for home but car as well. What to do

No digital output.

I run it into my NForce 2's small RCA input plug and it mixes Fungus (the punk rock station) into the sound very nicely. I have all music in all games turned off.

Fungus is brilliant, you won't find anything like it anywhere.

OK, so I am going to get the boombox bundle, but how can I make that work in my car? Do I need to buy some adapter, or will it come with something to hook up through my auxillary input and stuff to mount it with? I should order the boombox bundle if I want to listen at home and on the road right?

The boombox is just like a small little stereo... it has nothing to do with your car. To have the skyfi work with your car you will need to buy the car-kit.

Get it set up and receiving the preview. If you are not getting all of the channels after 1 hour, call them and they will refresh. You should never have to wait 24 hrs for full activation.

I'm aware of that, and tried it. The issue was that the equipment had shipped so fast that Metron hadn't gotten the information to XM yet,and the radio ID wasn't in their system, so it couldn't be refreshed. Working great now though! And just won a MiFi through work, can't wait for it to arrive.

I ordered on 12/9, and got mine yesterday. They have promised to get them out before Christmas, but they are backordered big time, because of the price they're running on them.

Easiest way is to go over the FW and look up the thread there.

They get new stock in about once a week, maybe more now that there is such a back log. I also ordered mine with 2-day UPS on 12/5. Called that Friday, and they said they were back-ordered and getting a shipment in on Monday. Called the next Friday, and the CSR's said the exact same thing. Mine finally shipped 12/21 but got caught in the big Central snowstorm. Finally got it Monday on 12/27. Works great. Because of the Anandtech/Fatwallet effect, they are back-ordered by several weeks. Maybe it will resolve itself now that it is after Christmas, but I doubt it since this is such a good on-going deal. Plus the one-year for $60 is adding to the demand.
