Dude, return the damn thing, it'll be awesome after a revision or two, and when it's sold with the 4G radio already installed....

I also have some concerns about battery life with 4G after the mod....

Go score a nook color and call it a day till the 2nd 1/2 of the year...

From everything I've read, the Xoom has a lot of potential to be great it's just not ready yet software-wise. It looks like i'm either going to be getting a cheap ipad 1 or a new ipad 2 for now.

After looking around a little I'm finding info that suggests that Tegra 2 is incapable of accelerating decode of h.264 high profile with weighted prediction.

If that's the case this is bad news indeed.

I finally got my hands on one today at best buy. I really like the size and build quality, HC seemed pretty cool as well. Not good though was two separate apps I tried opening gave me the force close prompt, pother than that it was nice.

Played with one at Best Buy today. Honeycomb was pretty cool, took a bit to get used to no hardware buttons like on my Droid. Tablet was nice overall, felt good in my hands, and felt solid, but I wasn't impressed with the screen. If I could get one cheap I'd buy it, but no way would I pay the current asking price for it.

Wow, they just knocked $100 off from Moto's store with a coupon...

$100 OFF Motorola Xoom with no contract Motorola is offering Motorola Xoom for $100 OFF with no contract.

Use Coupon Code: MOTOXOOM

Lol. I guess Moto is feeling the pressure after the iPad2 announcement yesterday. I need another $100 off to bite. I played with it at Costco today. Nice device but I think I prefer 7 inch tablet form factor.

Wow, that's alarming. If prices keep plummeting, it means the resell value will go right out of the window by the time you want to trade it in for a better device.

Do a lot of people buy something purely based on the potential resale value? Personally, I buy based on my enjoyment in using the thing, not how much I can expect to sell it for if I get impatient and want to upgrade to the newest thing next year.

Well, in tech, I would assume... yes? Unless you want to commit to a device that's not quite a computer for the next couple of years, I'd think the resell value should matter.

Got my hands on a Xoom and Galaxy Tab today. Was really disappointed. The Tab ran better than the Xoom with Honeycomb did. Was not impressed with the Xoom's screen, although I did like the feel of the hardware. Interface was laggy and the GUI was un-unified. There was an iPad right next to both and it felt lightyears ahead of them - I didn't have to figure out the GUI and the interface was very fast & fluid. I know everyone says in a revision or two the Android tablets will be better, but based on in-store experience, I wouldn't buy an Android today.

Surprisingly, I really liked the 7" form factor of the Tab after actually playing with it; I actually think the widescreen works better in that size and the iPad's more square screen works better in the 10" size. I also really liked using the 7" Tab as a camera, it felt like a huge P&S :awe: Apple needs to get on that size pronto!

No SD support (even though the hardware is there).
No Flash support (even though it's promised).
No LTE support (but you can send it in to have it enabled).

Wow, what an out-of-the-box experience!!!

Jobs lashed out at the oncoming new generation low priced 7” tablet, announcing that it would be DOA “Dead On Arrival.” On a conference call to analysts, Jobs said of the 7” tablet was going to bomb in the market and ”The manufacturers will learn the painful lesson that their tablets are too small.”

I must say I disagree. I love my 7 inch Nook Color.

This is the first time in history that apple has a better product for a cheaper price, the ipad 1 trounces this $800 tablet and you can have one for $350 refurbished. Sure is a bit more limited but the overall ecosystem of iOS is better than the Android Tablet, with no apps i'm not sure if i feel adventurous enough to drop such a high amount of money just for a few google apps that sure are nice but is not going to be the bread and meat during the useful life of the device.

How do you figure that? The Xoom has better specs than the iPad 2 does. Even 6 months after the iPad came out, decent apps for it were virtually nonexistent. Running iPhone apps on it was an atrocious experience. Not to mention that for apps that had an iPad version, you'd usually pay $10 for the iPad version when the phone version was $1.99 and the only difference was the resolution. The main thing the iPad was any good for was web browsing and reading books and that's still what it is mainly useful for today. That's what the Xoom will be useful for as well.

Sure if you want to drop $800 for web browsing and reading books, while there are real games and apps in the ipad, games like rage HD, plant vs zombies, baby connect... These are fully interfaced apps and not the lame text list that plague android apps. Honeycomb will not have these apps in 6 months much less in the near future as android has very few AAA apps even after 2 years of the OS life. Sorry but i don't feel like gambling $800 i don't have that much faith in the first generation of android tabs.

I think whether the XOOM has better specs remains to be seen.

6 months after the iPad was out? It has a ton of apps built specifically for it. The iWork suite was there by default. Then you had Sketchbook Pro, etc...

iPad apps were $9.99 but most of them have dropped to $4.99 by the end of the first 6 months. And now you have apps that are universal, or only $1 - $2 more expensive for an HD version for iPad.

XOOM will be useful for web browsing when it's less buggy, and when it finally has Flash. Whenever that is...

Yep, there were quite a few decent apps on rollout, like NetFlix, ABC.com, etc...

The app doubling isn't the most elegant for the other non iPad specific apps, but they work quite well, I use quite a few of them.

The eTrade app is really good, I've been waiting forever for that one.

That is my plan exactly. This fall is going to be perfect time to buy Android tablet, once everyone launches theirs, price competition is in full gear, and HoneyComb is polished out. For now, I am playing with my Nook color, which is a lot of fun.

I'm a really happy Droid 2 Verizon customer and I really wanted a XOOM after seeing it at CES. I just can't justify the price tag for it. I just snagged a Nook Color, I'll have some fun with the hacks and have a perfectly acceptable tablet toy to tide me over for the next several months.
