What voltage settings should i use for my XP1600? It is an AGOIA. Have not booted the system up, I am waiting on my monitor, keyboard, sound card, NIC, and optical drives. It will be running at 166FSB at the very least, but I might put it up to 171
Fatman42 was saying that my AGOIA should be fine at stock voltage.
I changed from an xp 1700 to a 1600 since then. Because I know that 1743mhz from an XP1600 is stable from other people I know. My cooler is an HHC-001 (seriously sweet HSF, in my opinion the best aside from water cooling) which is rated to cool overclocks up to 2400+. I got a sparkle 350W, since most people said to go with that or the Antec truepower. My PSU and HSF definitely should be up to the task.
Will 1.75 work fine on the AGOIA XP1600? BTW. FatMan if u read this, you said if it's a relatively new chip I should get an AGOIA or AGOGA. Both my chips (XP1700, XP1600 AGOIA) were made in 1999, hehe.
On another topic, how much better is Arctic Silver 3 than Arctic Silver 2 or Arctic Alumina?

If it's AGOGA, AGOIA or AROIA then you're quite likely to have a successful overclock. The voltage you'll use will be the minimum required for stability. Some 1700+ will run at 1830MHz at stock (1.75v) voltage. My own (week 11 AROIA "Y") requires 2.0v to attain stability at that speed. If the system is unstable (i.e. won't run Prime95 all day long, looped without crashing) at a particular voltage, raise it by the minimum. Test again raising the voltage one notch at a time all the while.
Just make sure your PSU and cooler are up to the task, 'cos the heat coming off is going to be significantly increased. Unlocking would be a good idea - you can better use that 1/5 divider to get a perfectly stable system. Even if 11*166 isn't attainable you should be able to get some overclock out of the chip.
