XP 1900+ or P4 1.6a?

Im thinking about getting the p4 1.6a because of its insain OCing. What speed in mhz should i expect the 1900+ to get? Now dont give me the highest OC in history on this chip, but somthing i can expect to recive. I know that with the 1.6a i should get 2.4, but it could be a dud and i might only get 2.1-2.2.

Don't buy your cpu thinking you will get a high overclock cause some idiot started another thread where he got flamed for blaming Intel about not giving him a chip that would do a 700mhz overclock. You should be able to get 2.1 out of the 1.6a(with a 133mhz fsb overclock), but it's not guaranteed. If you don't have experience in overclocks then stick with the faster cpu and go with the AMD, if you want to take a chance, then go with the P4 but go in thinking that at most you will get 2.1, and if you get more, then it's a bonus.

If you want to overclock go with the P4. The XP doesn't do nearly as well. If you want the best performance out of the box then go with the AMD.

The Athlon could also be a dud and not OC at all. But of course the 1900+ performs better at stock speeds than the 1.6A. I'd go for the 1.6A, you should be able to get a good OC this late in the game, and it'll outperform the 1900+ when you get it up there.

The 1900+ smacks the 1.6a around out of the box. If you get a 1.6a just hope you dont get a dud.

from what i see hardly anyone is getting a 1.6a dud. id hope to get 2.4, but im expecting 2.3, if i get 2.1 errr that will suck. but its not the end of the world.

Get AXP 1900+, i very dissapointed with my P4 1.6A because only o/c to 16x133 2.133Ghz can't go higher.
assume yang can o/c AXP 1900+ to 2100+, the AXP 2100+ will smoke P4 2.133.

Yea, my 1.6A is runnng at 2.13ghz with 39-40C temps at full load with the stock HS. I can push it harder...I just don't need the speed right now. Maybe later
