Just for fun I tried 2.01Ghz and it would blue screen right away in XP.
It didn't even show the XP logo.
So I think I am very close to the limit of this CPU.
I did raise it to 1.99Ghz, but I haven't pushed it.
I am considering the voltage mod to 1.85V, but I don't know if I want to risk it.
I think it would be stable at 2+Ghz with a raised voltage, but is 30 or 40 Mhz really worth
working the CPU that hard?

I've got an xp2100+ and an 8K3A+ with Mushkin pc2700 cas 2.5 512MB ram. I can get it to 147 fsb. After that it kicks out of 3Dmark 2001se. My temp under load is 44c. I am using a Hercules GF2 GTS PRO vid card. Could that be the problem? Thanks

Don't forget I dropped the multiplyer so I could get over 166 and kick in the 1/5th divider.
So my PCI and AGP are running much slower then if I still had the 1/4th divider of the 266a boards.

what multiplier are you currently running @?...and does 1/5 divider kicks in by itself? or do you have to change something in bios?

thanx

That is probably a better thing for your oc, stability, and life of your components....

Have you ran that prime95? at 1.85v and 1.99ghz???

I am running at 11X. With a KT333 board the 1/5th is automatic, but it is not there in a 266a or below board.

The highest the T'bred Cpu's go in the MSI board are 1.75V without a volt mod.

With the Palimino CPU's it goes to 1.85V.

I was running prime95 and it would error out all the way down to 1.95Ghz.
I just upped the fan to a Sunon 50 CFM and now I am stable at 1.98Ghz and I
haven't tried higher yet.

I was considering doing a volt mod to get 1.85V, but I don't think I have enough cooling.

I think I may try water cooling and increasing the voltage, but it's expensive.

I wouldn't do the volt mod.... 0.13 micron parts regardless of manufacturer likely will have same breaking point...1.85v is dangerous for the p4 and so I would think same fot the t-bred...

What kind of temps were you seeing that you were crapping out in priem until you got sunon fan???

Up above you were getting kick-ass temps...I guess that was pretty much false, huh Thought so!!!

Live with the 2400+ that makes you likely comparable to p4 2.533ghz...And you did it for about 400 dollars less...

I got something like 4 mhz. on the front side bus with a soltek kt333 board and crucial ddr266 that had been clocked as high as 152mhz..
according to the thermal diode, I was running 73C full load with a coolmaster HHC-001 & 7K fan.
two case fans, all hdd's out of the case for added cooling, etc. etc.
it was a week 23 AIRDA stepping. I've got a AIRGA stepping, but PSU went ka-blammo. d'oh.

I just got a 2200+ and am wondering what to get for a cooling setup. I mean by a cooling setup, a heatsink/fan unit (say heatsink A with fan B for example). I have an Asus A7V333 motherboard and Samsung DDR333 (real Samsung) with a thermaltake aluminum heatspreader and my case is the COolermaster ATC-101 with three Y.S. tech 80mm fans and a dual fan enermax 430watt PSU. Thanks for your help everyone and have a great day!

Hi airrahul, my recommendation would be the Alpha PAL8045 with a ~32cfm fan or faster, IF you don't mind having to take your mobo out of the case to remove the heatsink (this heatsink uses the through-bolt attachment method). YS Tech makes an adjustable-RPM fan that maxes out around 40cfm, probably a good choice for the flexibility of noise versus output. It would be good to use Arctic Silver 3 too.

I've seen a couple people have trouble with true Samsung DDR333 on the A7V333. Hopefully you won't, though.

For vendors of the heatsink and fan, check the handy Vendor List thread.

thanks for your suggestion. does anyone else have ideas, cause i'm keeping an open mind about this and also, with my mobo (Asus A7V333), the RAM works fine (512mb Samsung DDR333) but i have heard of other people having problems. Does anyone know how to unlock the thoroughbred? Cause if i can't, I'll just use the FSB but it'd be handy to have the multiplier manipulation so that if my Mobo can't handle a higher FSB, then i can just isolate the CPU. Thanks everyone and have a great day.
