XP-->5 user workgroup-->XP retarded?

I have a small 5 user work group, all the computers can share files via tcp/ip and file and print shareing.

One computer lets call it computer X has some data that i want to access on it.
I can access that data from all the computers except for one of them. Lets call it computer Z

Computer X can get files and send files to computer Z

but

Computer Z cannot get into computer X without a password prompt coming up

Problem is that the user prompt is greyed out with the follwing:

computer X\Guest

password is blank...but guest user is disabled on this account.

any idea?

all other users can view the files without a user/pass prompt

Forgot to mention, there are no firewalls etc, i've also done the following

Loaded up the local computer policy snap-in via MMC

went to windows settings, security settings, local rights assignment

and on the "access this computer from the network" policy i manually added computer Z

still asks for password prompt.

Which one is the XP machine? Do you have passwords set or are they blank? Do all the computers get logged in with the same user name/pass? Are you logging in automatically or do you have to actually hit ctrl alt del and type a pass etc? What is the OS of the other computers involved? XP Home or XP pro?

I have a 3 comps I use at home in a workgroup 2 win2k and 1 XP I don't see this issue but that has more to do with the way I'm set up than the OS's.

All the computers are windows xp, all using individual user names and passwords. Funny thing is that none of the systems have local accounts on each other but they log in without authentication except for the computer mentioned below. All the computers are set with user names and passwords but they log in automatically ( saved pass)

The computers are all XP professional. Computer Z is xp pro with sp1...i'm starting to think that may have somthing to do with it.

Problem resolved: had to disable simple file shareing

That seems to be the culprit for just about everyone having a problem sharing resources with XP. Glad to hear you got it.
