Is there any real big difference between the performance of these 2? It would be on a Winchestor core with a little o/c.

Also, do you know if it'll fit either a DFI NF4 Ultra board or an Asus NF4 Ultra board?

Thanks

Just get the XP90. It costs as low as 25$ at svc.com

The difference would be slight. A matter of 2-3 degrees C maximum. Not worth the difference in price.

the XP-90C is made out of copper, not aluminum like the XP-90 is. That means it weighs a lot more and cools better.

For a winchester, the stock cooling is fine. They run very cool. If you really want a different heatsink, get the XP-90, not the XP-90C. The XP-90 will cool very well, but won't put the extra strain on your motherboard that the XP-90C would because of its weight.

My Winchester's stock cooling was very poor, maybe because I played around with it in the beginning and didn't use the thermal pad/grease they provided. Now I have the XP-90 with As5 and it just rocks. Silent system, never goes above 50C, with 600Mhz overclock... Get it now!!

just released...copper is better for conducting heat but doesn't release it as fast as aluminum...

the best combination would be copper base...with alum fins but the contact has to be perfect...

that said go regular 90...90c is for looks

Moosey, have you selected your fan for your Thermalright XP-90 yet? I am also interested in getting one too. I think the retail kit comes with a med speed Panasonic fan for another $5.

The best comparison I've seen between Cu and hybrid Al is here: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article92-page1.html

I use a 7000 Cu on my Abit IC7 P4 2.8c @ 3.3 and the most impressive thing to me is how quickly the temp returns to idle after heavy loading. Heat is being moved efficiently. And it's quiet to boot.

I would recommend this for your usage description: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de...558354?v=glance&s=electronics&n=507846

The Winchester runs darn cool as is. I just built a machine with a 3500+ on a DFI Ultra-D using the stock retail hsf with AS5, non-OC. It idles at 30C and peaks out at 42C (prime 95 torture). The Zalman would even kick it down lower.

It will be very interesting to see the reviews coming on the XP-90c vs XP-90, being that they have the same surface area, just like the Zalman 7000's.

I actually have the Panaflo recommended fan that costs $11. I have it leftover from my previous Thermalright for Socket 462.

I just ordered the XP-90C, I am sure either one would have been fine I like the look and performance of a pure copper HSF.
