XP and Cuteftp... not working?

Ive got XP installed, seems nice...

Except cute ftp seems to hang when connecting to some sites.... it will hang on socket connected, waiting for welcome message.

Some sites do this, some dont... but most do. Im using version 3.5... i may try getting the newest and seeing how that works.

Anyone else have this problem?

i just installed cuteftp pro... dont like it at all. seems to work better though.... it just looks all kinds of ghetto.

That's caused by the firewall. You'll have to disable the firewall so it'll work correctly. Go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections and right-click your internet connection. Choose properties, then the Advanced tab, and uncheck Internet Connection Firewall.

if u r behind a router u will also need to set ftp clients to use passive mode rather than port

I dunno about the firewall part. For the time being I'm using the firewall and have aboslutely no problems with CuteFTP 4.0. Uploading or downloading.

ws ftp pro 7.0 works under XP fine.
Haven't tried cuteftp. I like Flashfxp better.
