So yeah, I was trying to run the new Need for Speed 6 demo and it froze on me (my roommate had already installed the file too, so I don't think it's a virus, and he scanned the file)...so I manually restarted the computer, and upon restart, the system (after logging in, and quite a delay) gave me an error about the registry (couldn't find parts of it and had to "pull" from somewhere...) but it said it was successful so I paid it no heed. But after that, nothing commenced, so I opened task manager, and noted that all services were running other than explorer (or at least most). So I tried to "run program" explorer, and it says that there is no association with that file type and to do something about it in control panel (of which, I can't get to).
I can use all bat and com commands, such as command, but not cmd. I still have network capability, since I can telnet into my university account and check my email still. Other exe's are present when I check running processes.
Any suggestions? I've tried a few things already...check the reg -> software->microsoft->windowsNT->winlogon-> shell is = explorer.exe
If nothing else, I'll just try copying my roommate's explorer.exe over, and if that doesn't work, proceed with reinstalling. But I REALLY DON'T WANT TO.
HEEEEEEEELP.
