xp frequently used programs list problem

I had a program on the xp 'frequently used programs' list on the start menu in XP and decided to 'remove from list'. Now the program, which I use a lot, never goes back into the frequently used list. How can I enable the shortcut to reappear in the list of frequently used items?

Right-click on the program's shortcut, wherever you find it in the Programs menu, and select "Pin to Start Menu" from the context menu.

I have somewhat the same problem. I don't have a frequently used list at all.. If I want something there, I have to pin it. NO matter what I open, nothing goes on there unless I do that.

Somehow, there's gotta be a better solution to the problem than this.

I deliberately turned off my most frequently used programs list by using the Customize Start Menu applet and reducing the number of programs to zero, then clearing the list. I like only using the Pin to Start Menu feature to determine what programs are shown there. Are you saying that you don't have the number of programs set at zero, and that frequently used programs still won't go onto the start menu?
