XP installation issues

Well I don't know what's wrong, everything on my computer is unplugged except for the cd drive, video card and hard drive, and it hangs at the "Setup is detecting your computer's hardware configuration" screen.

Here are my specs:
MSI K8T Neo FSR
1 GB PC3200 (Kingmax)
eVGA GeForce 6800 GT
A 64 3000+

If I were at home, I'd have other hardware to swap between (video card, etc) to test but since I'm in college now I have nothing and no clue what to do.

What are your temperatures? Have you run Memtest overnight?

It could be a lot of things. I was building a new machine for a friend the other day and it hangs also, so I unplug all the cards except the video card so for sure I will not have any Hardware compatible issue and everything ran smooth.

Also, you might want to check our power supply, that can be another cause.

The power supply is a new 480-watter.

Temperatures are around 43 C for the CPU, but I've heard of some issues with MSI's motherboard monitors, the true temperature might be a little lower than that.

I haven't run memtest yet, and I really have no way of getting it onto my computer either (no floppy drive). I have two sticks of memory, I've tried alternating between then, no dice.

Do you have the motherboard BIOS set to the default settings, not the optimal?

I got it to work, apparently XP setup doesn't like USB devices plugged in.

But anyway, I have another problem.

It isn't detecting the disk I have for my SATA RAID... it keeps saying "install manufacturer's hardware suppport disk" or whatever. It's starting to get aggravating. Everything that can go wrong HAS gone wrong... I didn't even have a floppy drive until 15 minutes ago. isgust;
