XP internet conection sharing problems

I have 2 PCs running win XP that are conected using a crossover cable and I am sharing my 56k conection.
The problem is that on the second computer (the one that doesn't have a modem) ICQ can not connect. (while it could when it had its own conection)
What should i do?

Are you able to browse the net,etc ?

If not have you enabled a connection at all ?

I wouldn't think this would be the problem but maybe worth checking , are you running any firewall apps like ZoneAlarm or the built in one for XP ? If you don't have it configured correctly that would possibly stop ICQ from working.

I think if you poke around in the Connection settings under Preferences in ICQ you may find your answer there. I have a similar setup here using 98SE.

I would disable the firewall in XP first though. See if that works.

I am able to browse the net and MSN messenger connects without any problems. But ICQ and Babylon can not connect to their servers. The firewalls are disabled on both computers.

I tried to change the connection settings of ICQ but nothing worked. Is there anything else I might be doing wrong?

I'll tell ya this has got a deja-vu feeling for me. It's been a long time since I set up ICQ on the other computer here, but this sounds very familiar. It seems like I had similar troubles.

Next thing I'm thinking is the set up of your LAN. Over here, the machine without the modem has a static IP and DNS is enabled with the modem machine as the DNS server, and use the modem machines IP as the Gateway.
