XP Pro Network VERY Slow

Hi all,

I am having serious speed issues with my XP network. (to the point of where a 28.8 modem would be faster...)

When both of my computers were using Win2k Pro the network was very, very fast. However, upon clean installing both systems with XP Pro the network speed just died. I'm referring to file transfers, not browsing. (I have deleted the registry entry for the task runner that is reported to slow the network with no result)

I don't know why the speed went from NIC speed to modem-like speed.

By the way, Windows XP ICS speed seems to be effected too. The other system has very, very slow Inet connections now. This was not the case in 2000.

Can anyone offer any tips?

My setup is this :

1 system (1.2ghz tbird, 256 DDR, 2 NICs - 1 Netgear FA310TX, Diamond home PNA & Ethernet NIC)

Netgear FA310TX is connected to a cable modem
Diamond home PNA connected to crossover cable connected directly to 2nd systems NIC (an FA310TX)

2nd systems is Tbird 900mhz, 128 RAM

ICS is enabled
