I don't believe that is true. (Pretty sure you would have to activate XP Pro too)

There is such a thing as a "Corporate Version" of XP Pro that does not have to be activated.

The corporate version is out of the price range of most home users.

I went under accesories and system tools and i know tha in the home version i have that there is the task of activation, but in the windows xp professional that i got from a friend not too long ago the activation feature is not there. i went under system informatino the version that it says is 5.12 build 2600..................is the version that i got from a friend a beta version or the full version it seems that normally if you don't activate windows xp you know that you get that annoying popup that tells you how many days are left for you to activate windows but in this version there is no activation that is noted and no popup window.......................

i guess he gave me a corporate version that does not need to be activated.

first if it did not have the activation app in the start menu then u got the corporate version and u are a pirate also yeah build 2600 is the final but u wouldn't have 2 wory about that if u wernt a pirate also it helps to use line breaks in your post cuz its easier to read then btw welcome to the forums learn 2 type and u'll have fun here k bye

My company is MS's Partner. So We get most of their software for FREE. And Im Network Administrator so,,, I take care of it.

I got win xp Pro from MS before they sell it. No activate

Academic versions are a variant of corporate versions, and also have no activation.
