XP - System stutter/hiccup problems after installing AMD X2

Ok, here's my problem.. Ever since I installed my AMD X2, my system has been experiencing these weird little system hiccups, my mouse stops moving, and if I have winamp open playing mp3s, or any video software playing a movie/tv episode.. the video/audio stutter for a split second.

Here's what I've done to try to combat the issue:
- Reinstalled XP after noticing this problem the first time (shortly after installing my X2, I didn't reformat initially until I noticed this problem)
- Tried killing most active/useless tasks
- Installed AMD's dual core optimizer, and their X2 XP driver

The problem has happened/happens before & after all of the above were done.

I'm doing a virus scan right now, but I doubt that's going to yield any results considering that I've just reinstalled windows.

This problem only seems to happen when I'm multitasking, which is weird enough because I never had this problem on my old Athlon 64 single core.. When I've got a movie playing in media player classic fullscreen (even a HD movie, .mkv), it doesn't seem to do this.. Also, it seems like it's not triggered by high cpu usage (ie, by loading programs..) instead, it seems to happen at random times during typing a message and/or moving the mouse around while browsing).

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

Does your motherboard fully support X2's?

If so, are you running the newest BIOS?

Well, here's an update to my problem.

It seems to only crash when I'm doing something fairly intensive. So far as I can tell, the crashes seem random during playing games.. Once, it crashed right when I started up hellgate london... but then I was able to play for several hours without another restart. I eventually got sick of the restarts and installed my old cpu.. and I have yet to crash.

So, there's probably one of two problems happening here, either the new cpu is bunk, or my cheap mobo doesn't like the x2 cpus (Which is strange really, because I've oc'd the x2 to 2.7ghz without a problem other than the random crashes that seem to have nothing to do with cpu clock/voltage). I've tried updating the bios, but evga doesn't seem to support this mobo (it's an evga 123-K8-NF47-AX ...try searching but good luck tbh) ...the product page is here, and it says it supports dual core: http://www.evga.com/articles/302.asp

Other than that, I don't know wtf is wrong. I might try to RMA the CPU since I really don't have anything to lose...

Ok, it's been 48 hours since I adjusted my ram timings, and no crashes even with many hours of that being gameplay!

A problem with the ram was the *last* thing I expected, because I was using the same clock speed and timings which worked just fine with my old CPU.. But for some strange reason they were causing instability with this new cpu...

So, 48 hours of uptime warrants a problem solved, I believe.

Oh, and the audio/video stutter problem was thanks to Speedfan, I think this newer version was causing problems for some reason..
