decent themes are hard to get

btw anyone know if there are pc equivs to the mac screensavers? the ones that zoom and pan on high res images, kinda neat. that or the flurry one.

There's a really cool program called Y'z Dock that you can use for that. I forgot where I downloaded the program from, but just do a search on google and you'll find it. If you go to deskmod.com you can find thems and icons for Y'z Dock

yea, i have Yzdock and it emulates it perfectly, even though its a little buggy right now (memory problems) but overall is pretty cool. i forgot where i got it, but it ought to be somewhere, i think it was made by a taiwanese guy or something. try searching around

Since no one else has dared, I'll ask the obvious question:

Why do you want to make Windows look like OSX???

It's an intuitive interface. It has nothing to do with wanting to actually emulate the functionality of OSX, rather just to get the look and feel of the GUI which IMO looks fantastic.

A lot of these seem like you have to pay? I don't think I"d want to pay for just the look...but that's just my opinion.

actually, i think most of it requires desktopx, objectx, and some of them style xp. i just put up a OSX theme and it looks really cool. they all have trial versions

because i can?

i'd rather pick and choose how my comps interface is like then go with the default. i'm certainly not going full mac by buying one because i can't stand its weaknesses, one button mouse? gah!

but their o/s does have some nice points i'd like to use

It's worth noting that Apple has some very nice copyrights on the interface(s) for OS X. So if any of these become popular, expect Apple to (rightfully) shoot them down like a balloon.

ok well tried out the free dll, and well.. it works! u have to copy the file in dos ofcourse. to system32 and the i386 dir inside the servicepack directory

downloaded loaded the jaguar aqua theme, copied fonts into font folder, loaded yz's shadow for nice window shadowing/menu transparency, loaded yz's toolbar to skin explorer and stuff, havn't tried out yz's dock(resizing icon bar thingie), and enabled large icons on desktop in effects. looks pretty good so far.

also checked off clear text in appearance/effects, makes laptop text much nicer.

still looking for os x boot screens though.

i'm lazy so i stole his screen shot mine looks somewhat similar, missing the sys tray stuff, thats too hardcore. plus i like my default icons.

Even after installing the fonts and rebooting, the fonts still don't look right (I installed the SP1-uxtheme.dll from Windows2000 dual boot.) Everything looks right except for the fonts! What am I doing wrong?

I don't like it either, I actually used it TODAY... and damn that freaking G4 is slow.. i dunno if it's the OS, but the machine felt sluggish.

I do like the LOOK of it though. very clean.

hmm maybe go into display properties, appearances, effects and turn on font smoothing. i set it to clear font

btw, did u copy uxtheme.dll to both c:\windows\system32 and c:\windows\service~1\i386?

sneaky windows keeps two copies.
