I'd like some input on the hack found this week that supposedly allows XP users to comtinue to keep gettng XP updates from MS. Anyone applied it, and any problems?
Is the hack mentioned in the first post here: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2384705 your subject?
personally I would strongly recommend against this, but I fix computers out of my home & notice nearly all XP machines I work on need a new (modern) OS and/or hardware upgrades.
Same here. Running XP isn't the problem, it's the modern browsers, all the animated stuff on the web and your other programs that are really designed around newer/faster hardware.

Firefox and Chrome latest work with XP. So does Flash... Only latest haswell generation intel chips have no support for XP, but 3rd generation I7s work fine with XP... I wouldn't call that slow or old
