XP won't install!

First off, the hardware:

Duron 1Ghz
Shuttle AK11
Visiontek Geforce 2 GTS-V
Netgear FA311 NIC
AOpen AW-840 Soundcard
128MB PC133 SpecTek (Generic) RAM

When I try to install XP it gives me a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error for the file usbport.sys. I've got no USB devices installed. Am I screwed?

try taking out all ur hardware cept vid card and try loading it that way. also in your bios make sure you have it set to plug and play os.

There are a few possibilities, but for a start I would first look into the control panel under System/Device Manager. Look in the Universal Serial Bus folder and make sure there aren't any conflicts or yellow marks showing. The error message makes me thing there is an IRQ conflict. You might want to rearrange the way your IRQ resources are being used. I would recommend taking care of the conflict first before installing XP. You're going to need a clean XP install. wouldn't that be difficult to do if he's not even got XP installed??

Take out the network card and the sound card and see if it still does it. You might have to play with putting them in different slots until it finally works.
