Go for the tbird my friend. I bought a 1.4 plus a Thermaltake 6+ for $75 shipped on the FT/FS forums.

The XP 1600+ is approx 200mhz faster than the 1.4 TBird. Note: That's not actual 200mhz, but performance wise it would take a TBird 200mhz faster than the 1.4 to match the performance of the XP 1600+

If you have no desires to o/c, then get the xp chip. It is the next step up in the core that has some small added features. If you want to o/c, then get the 1.4 since it is one of the last AMD chips that does not have a locked clock ratio.

XP Sounds like the way to go, heh, nope, don't mind the loud computer at all, have a delta screamer on it, and then i will have a 120mm on the side, heh, right now it's only a 92, but i want more more more airflow noise isn't an issue, so thanks for your input guys, i'll be ordering, probably from neweeg or whatever, they've got the cheapest price counting shipping.......time to jump into this century....

Read this and see for yourself. The XP is hands down the king here (XP1600+ vs. AMD "C" 1400). For the few bucks get the XP. Future Mobo's will support it, and why upgrade to "old" technology.
