Hey fellas,

I'm running an EPOX 8rda+ with latest bios. Picked up a 1700+ from SVC with stepping DLT3C, SPMW 0308...

For cooling, Thermalright SK-7, AS2, and a 92MM Papst fan. The fan pushes between 50-60CFM is quite quiet, and has a very large hub.

My case is an antec sx830 I believe, with 3 front 80MM Panaflo L1As, and 2 exhaust L1As and the PSU fan.

Right now the processor is stable at 200x11.5=2300MHZ. Voltage is 1.8v.

Prime95 has been running about 2 hours and has stabalized about 53-54C, it fluctuates. No errors in P95.

I am just a little concerned that these temps maybe a little high, also I think the HSF would be good enough to keep it lower. I think the hub on the 92MM fan maybe too large and creating a big deadspot in the center of the heatsink (the hub is roughly 1/2 the size of the entire 'sink). Anyone think that using a Thermaltake Smart Fan1 80MM (50CFM tops), would be a better (louder..) idea?

The temps that you're having is not too high and I wouldn't worry about it.

Your concern on a big dead spot might be right and a 80mm *may* work better in this case, although at a cost of louder noise. Unless you already have a smartfan I, I would suggest using either a smartfan II or a YStech variable speed 80mm fan..coz smartfan I is rather loud at speeds that's useful.

Those are pretty good. Mine is about 60C under load with water cooling, heh, course, I'm pumping 2.3 volts now through -- 2500 mhz.

i hope you're not expecting that 2.5Ghz to last too long at 2.3v, I'm at 1.9 at 2.4Ghz, and I'm worried that I'm putting to much voltage through.

Those extra mhz are worth jack above 2100mhz-2200mhz, which is attainable at 1.55 to 1.6v for most, your nuts man.

why do u say that BD231? i have mine @ 2200 Mhz @ 1.675V and i was contemplating goin to 1.8V to go 2300 mhz. why would the extra Mhz be worthless? thanx

Thanks all for pointing out my 2300MHZ and 1.8v core...I realize that I am not a moron, I do expect it to be high just not this high and I was wondering if I needed to drop the speed to save a few precious C. I wasn't sure if that temp was a bit too high for usage and possibility of early processor death (as in 1 month or something). Thanks to those that posted something useful.

Using the Koolance Exos (external) watercooling system. Brain dead to use, but a little on the expensive side. With the C1 disconnect option in the BIOS, when my machine is idling temps are around the 40 C area (28 C ambient -- air conditioned). When cranking, I think it's now stable at around 55 - 57C (Went up - way up before) I don't have any of the fancy Arctic Silver Ceramic stuff, just plain old Antec silver thermal compound. Not the best, but it'll do.

I don't honestly expect my machine to last this long, I replaced an un-overclocked Athlon XP 1800+ (Palomino) with it when I upgraded my entire system (Geforce 4 Ti4200 -> Radeon 9800 pro, asus kt333 -> abit nf7 v2 nforce2, 512 pc2100 -> 1024 pc2700), but it's fun while it lasts. It'll also give me some valuable data as to .13 micron reliabilty when placed in extreme stress - so when I replace it, I'll know what to expect. At a potential $40 replacement, I'm not too worried and also I have a standby so it won't screw me over. Since this is my play machine, I don't do any development on it so no data to be worried about losing.

I'll let you all know when she croaks =)
