Ok here's the vital stats:

AXDA1800DUT3C 9808356260471
JIUHB 0307SPCW

I bought this chip a few days ago, and promptly ran it through http://mp3.zonebg.com/cpu/cpu.php the results being:

Athlon XP Processor Low-end
Core Thoroughbred-B
CPU Model 8
Performance Rating 1800+
Working frequency 1533 MHz
Package Type OPGA
Operating Voltage 1.6 V
Max Die Temperature 90° C
L1 Cache Size 128 KB
L2 Cache Size 256 KB
Multiplier 11.5x
FSB Frequency 266 MHz
Stepping Code JIUHB
Manufacture Year 2003
Manufacture Week 07
Production Batch C
Batch Production No. 0471
Downgraded from 2600+

What is the credibility of this site? Also, this chip would really be a B0 stepping tbred B assuming it ran at 2400+... There are a few reasons why it may have been downgraded: to fill the 1800+ market shortage; it didn't run at 2600+ anyway... opinions please so i'll know what i can do with it cheers

No utility can tell you what overclock you'll get from a CPU, you just have to put in the time and effort and evaluate it for yourself. There are many factors that effect the overclock limit ranging from the type of cooling to every hardware component in your system config. The only thing you can do is serach for data on the particular week and stepping of your chip to see what the mean of other's overclocks with systems as close to your config as possible is and even that doesn't provide any great assurance. As long as you have a high quality power supply of sufficent wattage/voltage, a board with all the necessary overclocking capabilities phyiscal and bios, adequate cooling, RAM that can take it, and the patience to test a multitude of different combinations of settings you can at least be confident that your results are the best for your particular CPU without resorting to exotic cooling.

Opinions are nice, but you are going to have to overclock the CPU yourself and see what it will do, because nobody else can tell you for sure. Good luck, and tell us how it goes/

I wasn't so much after the overclocking opinion of you guys, sorry if i gave that impression I really wanted to know if the above URL was credible, as i find it hard to believe that a cpu would be downgraded from a 2600+. In theory that should easily o'c to what i want...

What have you other guys found... and has any cpu's been upgraded... that'd bring a grin to someones dial i'm sure hehehe

waht i think:
either they didnt work stable at the speed they were intended for, so they were relabled as lower models
or they needed to fill the demand and started rebadging them

that website is lying to everyone
it can't know
it says my cpu's are 2500+ rejects but 2500+ is a t-bred rating that don't exist

Hmmm that is interesting Soulkeeper... anyways all i really want to get out of my 1800+ is to get it to work at 2000+... i guess in part if that program is right, i should easily get there. Still haven't had time to put the new cpu in either, damn work... :disgust:

I'm agreeing with Soulkeeper on this issue. When that prog was first posted here, I asked the guy who wrote it where that "downgraded" info came from, and he never did give a straight answer to the question...

Now, all of a sudden, people are treating that as "gospel"!

I have to disagree with the fact that it's a myth. I believe the downgraded from is a good way to judge your CPU's potential. I had a CPu which was "downgraded" from 2400 and it could not do 2400 and above without boosting voltage to 1.75v or more. Now that I have a "downgraded" from 2600 CPU, I could oc all the way till 2.2Ghz and prolly more if I had better cooling.

maybe the guy just set the program up to tell you how far he thinks it will overclock based on info he's read on the web about certain steppings
otherwise, if the batch reject info is even discernable from the core numbers, he would have to have internal info from AMD cause nothing is posted about such a thing on the AMD website

it would be nice to know tho

I think all the info up to the "Downgraded From" is creditable. IMO I think that the "downgraded from" is more of a personal addition by the guy who wrote it. In other words, when it says your proc was downgraded from ****, that is his opinion. I could be wrong though.

Maybe it was correct since your CPUs don't exist anymore either
