xp2500barton.....what stuff to buy!

i fancy me a 2500 barton as prices are coming down to my price range......i also hear its a good overclocker

now i know u can volt mod, change multiplier and change FSB to overclock....my knowledge only goes as far as the FSB

but i understand that when u bump this up, you overclock the rest of your system, ie memory and AGP etc right? so is there a Mobo thats fairly cheap that is a good over clocker

something that wouldnt apply an FSB change to the rest of the system.....because my GFX card doesnt like it!! keeps crashing (thank you VPU recover)

You can change voltages in the BIOS, new XP2500+ are multiplier locked, yes use FSB to overclock.

With Via based board, yes they overclock your PCI and AGP bus. With an nVidia based board, they lock the frequencies.

by lock do you mean you cant change the AGP frequency? I can change mine on my motherboard.

What I meant by locked is the AGP frequency is unaffected by the change in FSB frequency. But yes, you can change it.

Generally a good thing, can raise the FSB w/o moving your PCI bus into danger zones - corrupting you HDD for example.

Just want to run it @ 3200+ speeds? Shuttle AN35N-U, $65 - will get you to 200, but not much beyond.

Max OC? DFI Ultras or the Abit NF7-?
