Just wondering what you guys think

I want to upgrade my board and memmory

I was going to get some of that kingmax ddr 333 with the -05 rating marked on it ive heard good things about it.

Should I pair it with the IWILL XP333 board i could get right now or wait for a good board sporting the KT333 chipset launching this week.

you never know, it might not come, since the performance can't be that much better than a 266A, a 333A probably won't have any effect, unless the bus is also increased on the chips.

If you're getting that Kingmax memory, DON'T buy it from Newegg... mine came with 7ns chips on it.. I'm going to e-mail Kingmax asking if it's legit or if I should get my money back.

I'm sure VIA will find some reason to have a 333A, now if only there was any reason to buy a KT333.
I'd try the Iwill.

Forget KT333. It will probably not have the option to use a 166fsb and thus all that bandwidth of PC2700 will get wasted. Go for a KT266A board, or take the XP333 and overclock your Athlon to 166fsb.

I may deserve a flame for this, but I beg for forgiveness.

How do these boards handle high AGP & PCI speeds? Are there extra dividers to keep things at 33 & 66 Mhz, respectively?

If so, that would be cool ... running CPU & RAM at ultra-high FSB speeds, while maintaining spec on PCI & AGP devices.

As far as the KT333, that's the question. Will the KT333 boards have the 1/4 PCI divider so you can run the board at 166fsb while keeping the PCI bus in spec. XP333 however, was made for the sole reason of having the 1/4 and 1/5 PCI divider. That board as long as you've got PC2700 DDR, is guaranteed to run at 166fsb/mem clock. And, if you had memory that could run at it, this board could run at 200fsb (PC3200) speeds as well. KT333 might be worth something if it had these dividers, but all evidence points to that it won't. We'll see.

How big of a release is this chipset supposed to be anyway? I contacted Crucial asking if they have an ETA of PC2700 and their response makes it seem like this isn't going to be a viable upgrade for sometime.

<< Thank you for your interest in Crucial Technology. We do not have a
specific date for release on the PC2700 modules. It will probably be next
January by the time we release this module.

Being a Lil Biased toward the XP333 having just bought one but also listening that you just want the memory and Mobo. If that means you have a T-bird instead of an XP then the XP333 is for you why?
One reason Voltage! the XP333 rev 2.1 has a %10 voltage bump in BIOS that lets you attain 2 volts which is much higher than the Via boards (KT266A which all top out at 1.85 volts) With proper cooling, 8045's and swifty's, 2volts is where T-birds do their best work.

So if you have an XP chip you can wait if you have a T-bird go ahead and Buy Now! the XP333 is a killa board

Just because the chipset is announced this week does not necessarily mean that any motherboards will be out any time soon. At least a month away, probably more.

Here is some more info. KT333

No one mentioned the v-link feature that the KT333A is supposed to have. 533MBps transfer rate between the north and south bridge! I know it won't make a noticable difference in everyday computing, but it should make a big difference encoding MPEG
