On my Sony 10x .... when burning I could hear like a squeaky, whine.....When the Yamaha is burning, I hear nothing. Ripping or reading is another story. I had to close my office door for fear it would wake the kids last night. Make sure you use all 4 screws to mount this baby in your case or the rattle will wake the dead. Anyone tried 'on the fly' copy? My Sony could do it pretty good. Just wondering if this will do just as well

Out in Mooresville, NC store. Also, clerk checked stock via the part number and said that even if they did have any in stock the register price was still $137.00. Maybe they sold out before the latest price drop?

Huh?! $115 for a possible $17 burner from Staples? Have you brushed your teeth this morning? Why so smelly?

The Yamaha burner is hot only because of the cheap price. For $117 I am sure no one wants it.

The deal is ALIVE still...for some of us. I just picked one up at my B&amp;M for $82.15 inc/tax at noon today. There were not any on the shelves, but the manager was holding a few in the back room. He told me another store had called to ask for some. Don't know which one. Didn't ask a lot of questions or give a lot of answers, since I don't want to spoil this for any others in the area (Fayetteville, NC). Well, after getting the manager on the phone and insisting that the $137.40 was wrong, I finally got him to look into it. He called me back 5 minutes later and told me that for some unknown reason their system wasn't displaying the clearance price but it was indeed, $87.50. I picked up the last one in Easton, PA.

I know what ya mean. When kids don't want to go to sleep, they'll use any excuse and ask what that groaning sound is doing.

I had an Acer that was realy noisy on reads. I'll bet the thing was poorly ballanced. It was just a 24X. Got an HP 8x4x32. Reliable and quite.

Ask to see the price guarantee policy...I bet it doesn't state that the item has to be in stock, but beware, it might state that it does not include clearance items. If still a no go....ask for the number of their regional manager.....

Be wary of that drive, I bought one and returned it right away, I had nothing but problems with it.

Yamaha makes one of the best (if not THE best) cdrws. Most problems people encounter are a lack of knowledge on how to burn a proper cd. I have 2 of these drives and want to get a 3rd, they are GREAT!
