[OFF TOPIC RANT]
When I in the Burke store, I saw the clerk with a phone telling someone, "no, we don't have that CD-RW". About 5PM or so. Reminded me of the "Hunt for Talkabout Radios" a couple weeks ago. Then, I walked into an OD, and inquired about the Talkabouts, and got the response the Anandtecher most fears from the clerk:
"Oh, you're here for that hot Internet deal."
This, of course, is the cue for you to know the clerks have whatever's left stashed in the store somewhere. I can only imagine that some knucklehead(s) out there called them, and tried to _impress_ the clerk with Internet knowledge and dealing, and told them way more than they shoulda.
Bottom line: for you newbies (and others who really should know better), don't blab everything you know about AnandTech and dealmaking to the clerks on the phone. The more you say, the fewer deals there will be in the future. Be advised that as you were providing them the specific SKU you wanted, they were able to call it up on their inventory system, and see the original price of $109.99 and the discount price of $19.44. BOOM! THEY THEN KNOW IT'S A DEAL, AND THE MERCHANDISE IS A LOT CLOSER TO THEM.
When the clerk discusses things with you, act dumb, act surprised, or don't say anything. You got the idea out of one of their catalogs. Gabbing and blabbing won't get you the merchandise faster, nor will the employees be _impressed_ with you. Only bad things can happen from too much talk.
I'm done, and going back into my hole.
