hey people just got a T-bird 900 and a kt7a (non raid) any way what am i doing wrong??

i know i cant change the multiplier without doing the bridges but i thought the fsb could be dont a fair bit with this setup?

it will post @ 112 (224)= 1008Mhz fsb but it gets a windows protection error everytime.

windows loads at 110fsb = 990Mhz but it locks up rely quickly cant do alot before it does.

is this my ram being crap ?? its the same ram i had in my old p3500 @750@ 140fsb..

voltage need to go up i dunno new to this ??

i have set memory to host clk +pci clk but have tried on both

any setting higher than 112 wont post and i have to clear bios with the jumper to boot again

..suggestions ? anyone got settings with this rig that work?

thx guys.

Yes, try raising the voltage a little. Also, it's possible that your processor just won't overclock at all. I suggest you just unlock that thing and try overclocking using the multiplier. That way your PCI and AGP busses won't run out of spec.

You'll be lucky to get the FSB at 108. Unlike Intel systems, you can't raise the FSB too high. The only way is to unlock that sucker and increase the multiplier.

What kind of heatsink are you using? Thermal compound?

My 1GHz T-bird couldn't get to 1100 with a FOP38 and the pink thermal pad. I scraped it off and used thermal paste, it's at 1200 stable now.

Uh unlike Intel systems...??? Try a Duron @7X143fsb = 1000mhz yes I said 143fsb and it will do more just not as stable... The KT133>A< chipsets do support 133fsb (that offical thing...) and many here will back that up... If your chip wont do the 133fsb dance then yes unlock it and drop the multiplier down and crank up the fsb... Also goose it a little with some voltage and watch it heat up bur run like the wind... (then try backing the core voltage down till it barfs...)

Another option nudge the IO voltage up to 3.5 (default is 3.3) this helps also but dont get wild with it either...

theamount you can up the system bus depends on whether or not it's a 133 FSB board. You couldn't get 143 FSB on a 100 FSB board, it just wouldn't do it. Like someone else said, you couldn't do better than 108. I thought the KT7a was a board that supported 133 FSB though...

I think his mboard is the old generation with 100 Mhz FSB so don't expect to raise that too much.Multiplier unlock is the only way...on my Asus A7V I cant' even raise it to 103 without getting errors
