YA...Dual Monitor...Q

I have a ATI Radeon 9000 All-in-Wonder (AGP of course) and a "Number 9" PCI Video Card (Old I know).

I'm trying to do a dual monitor setup however...when I go to extend my window to the PCI card and click on Apply, my computer reboots.

Anyone know what could be causing this??

**The APG is going a DVI to a Envision 19" LCD and the PCI is going to a 19" CRT

sounds like a IRQ conflict. (try another slot)

i also seem to recall someone using a dongle with the all in wonder.

is the dongle you're talking about the analog to digital converter? because i don't use it...i'm going stright to digital.


but hmmmm...i'll try that. right now i have it on the last slot...(which by coincidence...is the slot i had problems with my other computer.

I had the same problem, and since it really was just for my viewing pleasure and not really necessary, I kinda gave up

hahaah damn i was thinking the same thing right after i gave up on it last night. but you know how it is...it'll eat you up inside if you don't figure it out. esp. if it is a possible task.

It's worth if you can get it running. It's pretty cool to be able to monitor connections as you make them, or see what ports a game uses. I must admit I'm surprised that you're having problems. I thought the preocess was idiot-proof, just hook them both up and go. Have you goggled it or contacted support?

Don't even bother with the old PCI card.

I have a Radeon 9000 AGP, and when I tried to run it with a Matrox Millenium 1 or an ATI Expert 98 PCI card, I had similar problems. Tried switching slots, specifying IRQs, monkeying with BIOS settings - forget about it. The Radeon just didn't want to work with an old PCI card properly.

Spent $5 on a dongle so I could hook both CRTs to the Radeon, tossed the PCI video cards in a drawer, and problems solved. The Radeon does 2 monitors on its own better than any combination of AGP and PCI cards that I've used in the past.
