Actually there is a difference. Women mature faster, so a 15 year old boy is at about the same maturity level as a 13 year old girl. So it should be considered worse if it's a 15 year old boy than a 15 year old girl.

Their age difference is most of his life. Almost two thirds and at 15yo, that's a lot.
I assume it's a higher level of gymnastics than normal. For example, Olympians have rigorous training schedules.
