YA-Mac/PC ad commercial-T

In the last two Mac/PC commercials, the "PC" talks about how much money MS has put into the marketing of Vista, one where he has a bake sale in order to raise money, and the other where he's distributing money toward two piles--one pile being marketing and one into the development of Vista--with the former pile getting most of the money.

Now, is there no greater irony in that since it's these Mac commercials dominate any MS/Vista ad I've seen by at least a 10:1 margin, and it's always during big sporting events where the ad costs are prime?

yeah, but the difference is Macs work better than PC's! OSX rocks, Vista sucks!

Oh and Christianity is better than Islam, Republicans are better than Democrats (damn you Sarah Palin!), Ford's are better than Chevy's, ATI is better than nVidia, Amigas are better than Macs, and Oldmoboat's mom is better than your mom!

Its just like the presidential ads. Truth doesn't matter, only the perception of the audience.

[*]It is ironic that Apple uses it's massive marketing machine to criticize MS for their marketing.
[*]It's "natural and good" that Apple wants to make a shit ton of money, and suckers like you are lapping it up despite the outright lies in their advertisements.
[*]Vista is not "second rate".
[*]Vista is not particularly bug-ridden - most issues with Vista stem from compatibility problems which are more often than not traced back to hardware vendors.
[*]$300 M is 0.5% of Microsoft's 2008 revenue. You can bet your ass Apple spends more than that on marketing
[*]The $300 M ad campaign wasn't designed to "paper over" Vista's issues - what issues do exist are being constantly fixed. Service Pack 1 fixed most major issues with Vista.
[*]You're a fucking tool for using "M$". Grow up, kiddo.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

Mac ads are for Mac users. Not Windows users.

It's like going to a political rally. Rarely do uncommitted voters go because they want to hear what a certain candidate has to say, they go because they already believe in them and they are looking for the confirmation from like-minded people.

My rebuttal: iTunes.

Honestly, I really like iTunes. Granted, there are other programs that do what it does but as far as my uses are concerned, it's good.

I can't get too into a rant about iTunes because I'll get banned and possibly investigated for making horrible, almost unimaginably cruel threats against its programmers. I'll just say that iTunes has failed to meet my expectations.

you're the one throwing around ad hominems, that is hardly mature behaviour

He's just competing on your level. Of course, that's a mistake, because you'll now defeat him with experience.

In case you didn't get it, using "M$" and "Microsux" gives you zero credibility.

Well, considering you've made 0 factual claims about MS/Vista by giving nothing than your personal (and rather heavily slanted) opinion (I assume you're an experience software/hardware engineer or at the very least multiple OS using superuser .. or.. fine.. a magazine reviewer?) I don't see what else he has to go on aside from ad hominen attack. That, and you've pretty much singled yourself out as an Apple fanboy / moron by using such catchy names as "M$" and Microsux.

On a side note, I think it's interesting you tout MS' slip to 4 in the smart phone division. Why should MS give a damn about smart phones when they're obliterating everyone else in the OS market and have no signs of slowing down?

I would never say I'm a huge MS fan, but I can respect it. It's done more for computing than Apple.

What "serious flaws" are in Vista?

He's merely making a rather logical conjecture based upon your infantile responses.
