i have met some really nice, open, clever blacks , there a joy to know, but they i see " gangsters" and its like " why do they bother", but then again you see "white wannabe ganagsters" also, but to a lesser degree.

Its always interesting to see, that "racism" exists among all people, but if there's only one consensus in this country among the races, its that blacks are a messed up bunch of people. EVERY non-black race in this country thinks this. It makes you wonder.

Sure, you can blame the white-black dynamic on the history of this country. but what about the Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indians, Russians? Is there disgust with black behavior a product of an emotional history, or a natural response to what they see? is this "racism" or is this recognition of a blatant reality?

The reality is that blacks benefit from a disfavored status. While they do genuinely suffer from being the but of jokes, that but of employment tactics and such, they benefit from the ability to reaffirm "white guilt" whenever its necessary to achieve something AND whenever the truth of self-irresponsibility is staring them in the face. As long as the believe that the white man holds them down, they don't have to blame themselves for being where they are. This is the plain and simple truth, and you want to know why? Because they ARE in fact like all of us - this behavior is a classic HUMAN behavior. If there was truly no benefit in their position, human nature would get them off their asses to change it. Defeatism doesn't come that quickly, unless there's some satisfaction in it.

Wow what a thread! I see your point but you shouldn't let it frustrate you. But as young black man myself I just learn to live with that sterotype that others may portray me as a criminal even though im a hard working college student. From my personal experiences living in South Florida which a very diverse place you rarely get those looks but I do know what it feels like and don't let it bother me. Just face it the white man will always be the strongest and we will face racism till the end of time. I believe our job is to face reality and stop blamin others and try to do better for ourself. You can't blame people for portraying us as criminals which is what the majority of young men our age are becoming landing them in jail.

Even though alot of issues which have contributed to why so many young black men are behind bars one main reason is No Father being present. My father always tells me I live in a white mans world and just make sure I try my hardest at what I do since nothin will be given to me and I have less of an advantage because of my skin color. I love rap music but to tell you the truth some of it is garbage but I don't blame the artist since if people are buying my records to listen to it that is what I would sell so that I can make some millions.

Maybe not... I think in 2000 years there will ne no races..but a light brownish... approximatly like a untanned middle easterner because we will have mixed so much and I also think borders will be open like the EU is now under some form of world governemnt which will accelerate this process greatly.

blacks are usually portrayed as criminals because they are. Any person with self sruvival knows that a bacl person in most cases is likely to be one. The trick is when they assess the situation, ie seeing a black dude in a suit and breifcase, chances are they wont think he is. but if he is dressed up like all the rappers talkin all that gansta ish, thats a reasonable assumption he can make.

black use racism as an excuse just as a couple people have already said. i know cause i have dealt with corporate types high yella headz to street dudes making $40k a month without going to a 9-5. yes i said a month. but its evident that black people came to US as underdogs and as fvcking slaves, and u askin whats wrong wit us?

Actually, it all depends on the area of what kind of people rob whom ...

I went to high school with many black people, the other half was russian speaking ... a little bit of everyone else ... (If you remember "He got game" or the HS that Marbury went to, that's the one)

I must say that the saying "there's a rotten apple in every basket" is definately true as far as my life experience goes ... there are black people who represent their people as a whole in what we deem as "negative" but there are also russian people (from former soviet union) who represent their people in the same negative way ...

Anyone watch the news about some dude killing a woman? (it was on WB11 here in NYC) ... guess what ... he killed her in my building!!! ... but we got a place for people who commit acts that we label as "criminal" ... this place is called "pound me in the ass federal prison" ... where your only friend is a very large white man named "Bubba" who's last sex encounter was 20 years ago ...

another thing, have you noticed that the worst to be in prison is for a cop (or ex-cop) and all those pedofiles ... which is why mike jackson don't want prison time

Well let me see... i'm sure you live in at least a middle to upper middle class neighborhood, and the blacks that you have in that neighborhood are some of the few that do manage to get an education and a real career. They however are not the majority of their community. IF they were, im sure Bill Cosby wouldn't have to get up in front of the NAACP and other groups to tell them he's ashamed to be black.

What about affirmative action, going the other way, where for example a white and a minority can have equal qualifications for a job/spot in school/whatever. But the minority will get it so the "quota" is met.

And that's not an official policy, but I'd suggest looking up Gratz v. Bollinger and Gruter v. Bollinger (sp?) re: U of Michigan's applications process.

And a final note on the public school system: legislative redistricting is a definite issue.

That's funny considering I was once told at a university for a mid-high level engineering position that I was lucky only white people were applying becaue if a hispanic or especially a black had applied I probably wouldn't have gotten the job. This was because of the "policy" that there weren't enough blacks and hispanics in tech/engineering type jobs. And they DID have a quota to fill, if at all possible.

It's not that anyone persay on here is targeting blacks and accusing them of doing a lot of crime, it is because THEY DO do a lot of crime. JEssie Jackson and all the people in the NAACP and ACLU and what not can scream, "White people just want to get us down" But when people like Bill Cosby and The Police Cheif of Charlestown,NC(a black guy, can't remember his name), speak out and say the reason the population in general think all blacks are criminals is because a larger percentage of blacks commit crimes than other ethnicities. And like said several times here it isn't because anyone is holding them back, it is because many, many young blacks think it is cool and acceptable to behave that way.

I live and work in a city that is 90% black, so many more blacks are gonna be pulled over and arrested because there are more of them than any other race. The reason they think it is racial profiling is because their are more white police officers( this holds true across the nation) than any other ethnicity.

WELL here in NJ there big guy its a bunch of bull. Here on the NJ turnpike, blacks account for only 10-12% of all the drivers. But accounted for over 60% of the stops.
