which is because the majority of the judges and lawyers are white.

there have been studies that show that the average black person gets a much harsher sentence than the average white person for the same crime.

That has to do with $ too. Whites are better able to defend themselves typically due to thier economic standing. Reports I've seen on PBS's Frontline "presumed guilty" show showed if you get private representation your odds were 50/50 aquital or a good plea while the overburdened, underpaid, under financed public defender lost 95% of the time. Blacks, besides OJ and Kobe, usually get crappy public defenders//

Wanna bet kobe walks?

There's always more to the story than just posting FBI crime stats and incarsiration rates.

Uhh, you're making my point for me. They don't get hired. But why not? Because they're black? No. Because they're exactly that - unqualified and uneducated. But here's the rub: Why aren't they? Because they choose not to be. Even if you did terribly in high school, you can go to community college, then transfer to a 4 year state school or something. Student loans will cover the costs. But black kids today obviously aren't taught to value education. This is not the fault of whites.

There's more bkacks in jails because they come from poor back ground. They're more likely to steal, rob, kill and go to jail they grow up with people that does those things. Education are not valued as much because it's a sign of weakness to be smart. When a black man get educated and talk with proper english. Other black call them white wannabes.

Is that supposed to make us feel guilty? Nobody forced them to steal, kill or sell drugs. You should be DEFENDING the tens of millions of prosperous, law-abiding, educated black people in the US, and CONDEMNING the criminals who choose to prey on them - not asking us to feel sorry for the poor, poor, rapists and murderers who got unfair prison sentences.

While this doesn't prove you wrong, I don't believe you're right either.

2001 Statistics

An estimated 40% were black; 19%, Hispanic, 1% American Indian; 1% Asian; and 3% of more than one race/ethnicity.

I didn't read too deeply so I might have taken it out of context, but I think its right. There is also plenty of other information that is informative as well.

Quote:
The comparison of racial proportions of drug users and drug arrests in the period 1979 to 1998 reveals a markedly higher arrest rate of black drug offenders compared to both whites and to the black proportion of the drug using population (Table 18). The percentage of current drug users who were black and white did not vary significantly in this twenty-year period. Among those arrested on drug charges, however, the percentage of blacks rose markedly, and the percentage of whites decreased correspondingly. For each year, the percentage of black drug arrests was at least double the percentage of blacks among current drug users. Whites, conversely, were under-arrested; that is, they constituted a smaller percent of drug arrests than they did of drug users.

Quote:
The marked racial disparities in drug arrests did not reflect racial differences in violations of drug laws prohibiting possession and sale of illicit drugs. Statistical as well as anecdotal evidence indicate drug possession and drug selling cut across all racial, socio-economic and geographic lines. Yet because drug law enforcement resources have been concentrated in low-income, predominantly minority urban areas, drug offending whites have been disproportionately free from arrest compared to blacks.

i'm not feeling sorry for criminals.. my stats in the privious post show that WHITE drug users and dealers are not charged or arrested nearly as frequently as BLACKs are.. that's just a fact.. and it has been shown that in fact a higher number of WHITE people are drug users/dealers than blacks are....
blacks are just arrested more because they live in poor areas etc.. my point is that just because someone is arrested more doesn't mean that those who are not arrested are innocent... a lot more white people would be in jail if the athorities cracked down evenly on BOTH races.

Ahhh... thats has nothing to do with what you said "which is because the majority of the judges and lawyers are white."

And the rate is higher as they go after lower income areas (NOT blacks), which goes back to blacks on average do not take school or family serious. If they did then they would get better grades, make more for themselves, and live in areas that are lower in crime so the police are not there as much. Even your OWN quote says they go after low income places. Low-income = high crime on average. Has nothing to do with "the white man keeping ya down."

That does nothing to confirm "...because the majority of the judges and lawyers are white....there have been studies that show that the average black person gets a much harsher sentence than the average white person for the same crime."

All your study says is that more black's were arrested for drug use (the use/selling of illegal drug's are not the only type of crime last time I checked) because there is more police in "low-income, predominantly minority urban areas", where there is more crime. Makes sense to me.

ummmmmm.. if you READ the study.. even the quotes.. it leads that there are more white than black drug users/dealers.. but black people are arrested more because they live in poorer neighbourhoods... last time i checked it was not a crime to be poor.. (well it is in the eyes of white people i guess).. but police enforce drug laws in poor neighbourhoods and not in rich neighbourhoods..

so in this case LOW income DOES NOT EQUAL more drug users but the users in the low income are arrrested and not those who live in richer neighbourhoods..

at any rate... i never said the white man was keeping me down.. because no white person is strong enough to keep me down...
and all you hillbillies can keep your views on how the black man just feels sorry for himself yada yada yada..they always blame the white man.. yada yada yada... i could care less what you think... honestly... it just goes to show how many closet bigots there are.

 if you can't even see or understand that black culture is what is causing problems in the black community. hardly anybody has said that the many crimes that are commited by blacks are an inherent problem. rather it is the culture they embrace that is causing these problems. its like what amused was trying to say, although nobody seemed to have read it.

and yes, crime is a problem in the black community. im pretty sure thats obvious.

nobody said these problems arise just because they are black, and nobody said being black naturally renders you a criminal. rather it is the culture and ideals they have. yes, i believe a culture can be superior to other cultures. no, i do not believe a certain race can be superior to another race.

i think the OP has a point in saying there's a misconception among people that all black people are criminals or black people are naturally criminals-because that's obviously not true. although i don't think it's accurate in saying that's a COMMON misconception (because everybody i know does not feel that way) and it seems like most people on atot also doesn't have that misconception.

I have black friends, albeit not many, but several and they are all excellent people. But that still doesn't change my opinion that there are serious problems in the common black "culture" that need to be fixed. im guessing if i asked them they would probably agree.

"Why are Black Men always portrayed as criminals"
because 9 out of every 10 of them are looking to rob and/or kill you?

Alright, 7 out of 10 then. Oh, go find the statistics and come back to correct me please.

and probably 2 out of the other 3 are looking for some sort of public assistance or telling the govt that you owe them something because their ancestors were slaves.

You gotta love the double standard. Half the time, people claim the higher crime rate among blacks is due to poverty. The other half of the time, they decry the higher police presence in higher crime areas that happen to be poor.

All in all, it's just a lot of excuses that do nothing to solve the problem. And so the cycle of poverty and self destruction continues...

New Jersey agrees to plan to stop racial profiling by police

December 23, 1999
Web posted at: 4:00 p.m. EST (2100 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Under a deal reached to stave off a lawsuit threatened by the federal government, New Jersey has agreed to new procedures to ensure that its state police do not target minorities when making traffic stops.

The agreement announced on Wednesday between the state and the U.S. Justice Department prohibits state troopers from relying on race, national origin or ethnicity when making traffic stops, except when a suspect has been identified based on those details.

It also requires state troopers to document the race, ethnic origin and gender of all motorists they stop and to obtain written consent before initiating any consensual searches.

"This agreement will establish real safeguards against racially discriminatory stops and searches for motorists who drive on New Jersey's highways," said Bill Lann Lee, acting assistant attorney general for civil rights, in a written statement.

"We are pleased the state has worked together with us to develop such a comprehensive agreement," he said.

The agreement must be approved by a federal court.

Justice Department officials said in April they had found enough evidence of racial discrimination by New Jersey State Police troopers to file a civil rights suit. The 2,700-member force has been accused of targeting minority drivers for traffic stops and discriminating against its own officers.

In the consent decree, New Jersey denied that its state police had engaged in racial profiling or any other discriminatory practice. The police department adopted a formal policy in 1990 prohibiting troopers from considering a person's race except where that "characteristic is directly and specifically related to particular criminal activity."

That is only one article. Search for yourself there little man. There are countless articles on the situation here in NJ concerning black drivers and the state police. As far vowing to stop pulling things out of ass, do you count as one of those things?

if anything this thread goes to show why black men are portrayed as criminals.. because most white people are stuck in their view to pre-judge the black man.

have a good evening everyone.. i heard there is a special a the dry cleaners nationwide on white linens tonight.. hope you make it there in time.

if anything this thread goes to show why black men are portrayed as criminals.. because most white people are stuck in their view to pre-judge the black man.

have a good evening everyone.. i heard there is a special a the dry cleaners nationwide on white linens tonight.. hope you make it there in time.

Nice cop out. But it still does not explain why blacks commit an inordinate amount of crime, including over 50% of the homicides in the US.

And as long as you keep blaming racism rather than addressing the real problems within the black community, it will never end.

No one here has said blacks are inherently inferior. So your claims of racism fall flat.
