Hey all,
I know we have numerous late model Mustang owners here and I wanted to survey gas mileage. Please report your mileage, city/highway (also if stop & go, etc), driving style, shift points, etc. TIA!

16-17 city, up to 25 highway. I drive like an idiot on speed about 70% of the time. Shifting around 5500 if I'm being stupid. 3500 if I'm driving normally.

That's not the point, but thanks for contributing. I could easily afford a car that gets 10MPG using Premium, but I'd like some level of conservation and wanted some real world estimates.

Thanks for the info guys, keep it coming

What exactly are you looking for?

Ford recommends regular, so it's really not that bad. 16 gallon tank at $2.65 a gallon (price here) is $42.40 with a range of about 300 to 350 miles (depending on driving style). Works out to 12.1 to 14.1 cents per mile.

I may be totally off, but I think the OP was talking about conservation more in the sense of oil supply, rather than monetary conservation.

But I may be totally off...

My post wasn't about his conservation comment. I was just offering any more info that I thought he might want.

Right now I'm just gathering info, which is why I'm interested in the real world mileage of Mustang GT's. It looks to be one of the more economical muscle cars in terms of mileage and the fact that it doesn't require premium. Just gathering info at this point

i'm sure you'd get better results from a mustang forum as everyone there would be able to contribute something useful.

Yeah I know, I just know these are popular among people here and wanted to survey a bit.

The way I figure if the previous poster is going to 3000RPM+ in the city and getting 17MPG, and I can drive my overweight 165HP automatic Subaru shifting at 2000-2500RPM, 20MPG might be reasonable outta that V8 Here's hopin'

to those talking about gas being an issue, monetarily, you guys don't know much about mustangs. the repair/maintenance costs are hella high so someone that can afford to maintain it can certainly pay for its gas.

joshsquall, virginia's gas is that cheap?? the average i see in the bay area is around $3.00-3.20...

he has no idea what he is talking about. the 4.6L V8 is damn near bullet proof. That engine will run forever.

edit, on top of that, the mustang aftermarket is so huge, you will probably be able to get aftermarket replacement parts IF something breaks for cheaper than just about any other car.

Well me with little Ford knowledge knows that, I was just curious if he was talking out his ass or not. I figured as much

20MPG should be attainable. Just don't always drive with a lead foot. I filled up today after 310 miles.. 14 gallons.

Combo. Most of my driving is to work and around town. Drive to work is about 10 miles, with 9 or 10 stops along the way. Traffic around town is usually moderate to heavy.

I can get 600Km + out of a tank if its all highway at about 130Km/h.

I have modded it though and it did greatly improve gas mileage.
