The AC turns on in modern/newer cars b/c it helps with the defrosting process. There's a reason why it does that.

I don't care, it lowers my mileage and robs power. I like having a lot of control over what my car does and when it does it

yes because having a defroster that works poorly is WAY better than one that works well.
